Trade in value

So after seeing these pics of the grabber blue for 08 I was wondering since I consider you guys experts, do you think that I'd be able to trade my 07 in straight across for an 08 since I'll have about $5,000 paid off on it and I got it for $21,000, or maybe even if I had to put $2000 extra on it?

Its a 07 Vista Blue V6 with Pony Package, IUP, Leather, Shaker 500, Auto, and by the time I trade it in when the 08's hit the floor it will have about 6,000 miles on it.

I went to KBB last night and I couldn't enter numbers for an 07 yet so I entered useing an 06 and with an 06 it gave me a trade in value of $17,000.

Are you planning to sell your 07 for a Grabber Blue 08? If so, then you may want to wait until the official colors come out next month (order guide should come out around 13 April). So far there is no indication that Grabber Blue will be an 08 color.

It may feel like somewhere else.

Yeah I was thinking about seeing what they would give me for it if Grabber Blue was going to be a color for 08. As long as I could keep my payments the same and they give me enough for my 07 to pay it off I'd do it. The other option I have if haveing my 07 painted Grabber Blue. I deal with paint and body shops all day so I'm sure i could get a pretty good deal haveing mine painted.

My two cents - DON'T have it painted. DON'T trade it in.

RE: "Keeping your payments the same" - sales folks LOVE that thinking. Hey, you could probably keep buying $50,000 cars and keep your payments the same - as long as you're willing to make them forever.

Just some advice from an old guy: don't go further into debt for a paint color! You have a nice car - enjoy it!

If you REALLY must have a Grabber Blue car then I'd suggest painting it rather than getting a new car. That would be cheeper in the long run.

<shrug> It's your money though...

All good advice. They way I keep looking at it though is that if I do trade mine in it only gives me an extra year of payments. I guess I'll just have to wait and see if grabber blue ends up being an 08 color and how bad I really want it.

Well, I hope for your sake you learn to look at credit a different way.

Isn't there ANYTHING else you'd rather do with your hard-earned money then, essentially, change the color of your car?

Well I had to trade mine in for a van, but I paid 24k (financed 19k) and the dealer gave me 25.5K for it. But that was a GT not sure how a V6 would do, I think I got really lucky too

Well... if you want to throw away your money merely to change the color of your car... not much I can add here!

It's YOUR money after all... I am sure Ford could use the sale!

No I got your point its just that I'm pretty well set in life right now. Yeah theres things I'd rather spend my money on but then again thats why I save up for stuff rather then spending money I don't have. The car is the exception. When theres something I want say rims I take care of business each month first (car payment, house payment, misc bills) and save a little extra for them. I only spend money on the car when I have the extra money.

do what you want but id go with the rest of the crowd. keep the car you have and enjoy it. put the money towards something else or ofcorse more mods (except painting it which IMO is a waste). but like i said, its your money, your car, your decision. good luck
