TPMS Sensors, How much do they cost?

Does anyone know the cost of a sensor? I plan on getting a second set of wheels/tires for winter use. I don’t want to have to swap the sensors twice a year. That’s going to get expensive. I’m assuming you can have more then one set of sensors per car.

I hate big brother, "what’s next?" seatbelts on motorcycles or no radios in cars, it’s distracting to the driver. Just wait and see.

Thanks,
Wayne

you might be able to change the tpms with a computer, or the dealership might do it for you for like 5bucks or free if you bring your car in for services there

I paid about $400 for the sensors and bands when I got my wheels from Tirerack. I actually just had the new sensors "learned" today at the dealer. They charged me $40. I believe they can handle two sets of sensors, but I'm not 100% certain of that.

400 bucks! Thanks again NHTSA for helping me remember to check my tire pressure. Maybe you can come up with something to help me remember to shut the door when I start driving. How about a device to test windshield visibility when it's raining and let me know when it's time to change the wiper blades. I don't know how I was able to stay alive so long without help from these wizards.

The place I bought my rims/tires from was going to charge me $298 for sensors ($55 each) and bands ($78/set)
I respectfully declined and will deal with the warning light.

take the four sensors, put them in a PVC tube, place endcaps on both ends and tap in a zirk fitting, air it up to 32lbs, toss it in the trunk. good to go

Has anyone ever actually successfully done this? I've read numerous posts on numerous forums that it doesn't work.

Some posted that it does work. Given my luck, it won’t. I’m wondering if people are having problems with the system as is. There’s always a way to disable it or at a minimum have the ECU ignore the signal from the SJB. Hopefully SCT or Diablo Sport will save the day.

On a good note, my GT has a Gate Release date of 5/14. I should have it early next month.

i have read a few that claim it works. I know that discount tire direct sells bands for real cheap, but then there is still haveing to break the tires off both sets of rims for the changeover everytime.
