Torque Converter F up. Please help
So i recently did a cassette change on a V6 Automatic and I didnt put the torque converter in just right. When the Mustang started up it was all ok except it wouldn't move just barely rock itself. When I removed the trans I found the torque converter seized.
Long story short. My dumb butt forced the tranny, Torque converter was seized on but did move, i removed it, rotated and aligned it properly.
Here is m question. It all goes back on, i can see the trans pump align with torque converter and is there any chance the pump can still be good?
It moves smother than it first did and the pump spins freely. I just hate to put the trans back if you know for a fact the pump is done.
Thank you!
Ralf

if the two pump drive teeth dont get spun in/engaged and the case is tightened down, usually the pump rotor will crack, often the high thrust load will burn the housing too...havent had a newer one apart, but would think pulling the front pump cover would be fairly easy- but ask a transmission guy first- lots of stuff may fall out...
I redid the 700r4 in my 85 camaro for 85 bucks complete- plus 15 for a ATSG manual off ebay- the manuals are awesome... yeah, bought a soft parts kit for 50, 35 for a replacement forward sprag, two evenings work and saved 1~2K, drove it several more yrs before getting rid of it...
if even thinking of tearing into a automatic again, I'd definitely get the ATSG manual for that tranny.
