Hey all,

I know I am not the only one thinking what must I do to the car to get it ready for the 1st anual meet. So I want to put it out these to everyone. What must you do to the car before the BIG meet?
So I'll start off.

1. Get Roush Louvers painted.
2. Get the Legend Front splitter
3. Get the Legend ducktail spoiler and painted.
4. Center Fog light kit.
5. Wheelspacers or Throttle body or Pullies or Tint

Number 5 was a tough one!!!!

I don't think any mods are a must. Just love to drive your car, and we'll see you in B'ham.

Biggest mod I need is a S-197 mustang. Otherwise, if I can make it, it will be in a 96GT

Actually I have already been laying down planning for Sept and the Meet (got my hotel room..)

As far as mods go, it would be nice to have some new goodies...... but as for right now, the money is kinda tight so the DKII is showing up as is for the forseeable future....

Good thread idea though - I know some people have to be thinking about sprucing up the car a bit for the meet....

Unfortunately I'm with you. The good news is the meet in Erie PA that I will be going too.

Fair warning about the Legend Body parts...

If you want smooth edges, angles and curves, you can plan on doing a lot of glass work. I got one of the duck tail spoilers and the curves are not smooth and the thickness of the leading and trailing edges ( most noticable parts ) is wavy and uneven. I have alsmost got it to an acceptable level, but it took a lot glass work and a lot of block sanding. I am about ready for the final skim coat to get the wavyness out of the larger sections...

The Fit also leaves a little to be desired. I had to grind down several high spots on the bottom of the spoilet to get it match the cruve on the trunk. It will also be necessary to add a few plastic washers to level the spoiler so that the front edges do not hit the quarter panels when you close the trunk. I also shaved off about 1/8" on the outer edges to get it to match the lines of the car.

The basic shape looks great, but their overall quality lives a little to be desired. I am pretty good with fiberglass work. I think a beginner could do it, but you may want to read a book on finnishing fiberglass if you select these body parts...

Even if you can live with the "as shipped" quality of the parts, I highly recomend that you fit them BEFORE you get them painted. It will most likely require some gringing and sanding...

Edited:

I should note, that I am very picky about fit and finnish. I want a show car quality look to any part I put on the outside of the car. Others might no be so picky and could live the parts as is...

Dave, PM me about what hotel you are staying at. I was going to make my reservations fairly soon too... and it would be pretty cool for some of us TMS members to stay at the same place and drive to the meet together.

As far as mods on my car for the meet... I'm getting them all done now. Never can be to early, right? The top 5 mods I wanted though before the meet are:

1. 18x9 anthacite bullitt wheels wrapped in Nittos (should have those on in about a month when I get my car back from the body shop)

2. RKSport 'GTR' hood (being painted next week)

3. SS center-fog grille (sitting in my bedroom waiting to go on the car)

4. 3DCarbon side scoops- both sets (almost done painting those myself)

5. 4.10 gears (these will be my birthday present in August so should have them installed by the meet)

The only other mod I really have planned are new cams and/or heads. And that would be down the line. But, for the most part my car will be complete at the meet in September.

Staying here http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/BHMMC. Call and tell them you're with the MCA and the rate is $94/night We plan on checking in on the night of 8/31. We're working on the very early stages of the caravan now, and looking at Google maps, it doesn't look like it would be convenient for you to meet up with us, unless you wanted to drive way east to like where I-10 and I-75 intersect Either way, that's the place we're staying - looking forward to meeting you there!!

Dave, thanks for the info. I got an e-mail from the other Dave (Burke) about the hotel and went ahead and made a reservation. As far as meeting up before the hotel, that might be kinda hard. I looked at the map and I need to take I-59 up north. Which route are you Florida guys taking? I assume you are going up through Atlanta. The only thing I could possibly see is us meeting up in Montgomery. That would mean me taking a highway (80) and you guys taking another highway (96) a little ways to Montgomery where I-65 and I-85 meet... then taking 65 up to Birmingham. Wouldn't be necessarily longer... just might have some red lights, or have to go slower on a highway.

Let's see...

1st Mod: Get the car
2nd Mod: Get stripes painted
3rd Mod: Alarm
4th Mod: Tint windows
5th Mod: Sequential lights

...and the list goes on. Will probably have more done depending on if I get the car early enough. If not then I will be showing up in a non-Mustang to put hand prints and drool over your cars.

PSH should be 99.9% finished by then, and will only be waiting on parts that aren't currently available. I hope the GT500 cloth convertible top and 2007 GT/CS engine cover are available before then.

Some people spend hundreds - even thousands merely to lower their car! Some people even cut their springs - that is the wrong way to lower a car! Why bother with different bolt sizes and components, when KaleCoAuto's do-it-yourself lowering kit is a mere four piece kit! Installs in minutes, just insert one per tire and you'll be the envy of every lowrider in town! Now available in standard, chrome, and gold.
