I am going to place my order sometime this week for a '05 Mustang GT and am getting prices from 2 dealers. Dealer 'A' is offering to sell for $100 over invoice. Dealer 'B' is offering to sell for $1000 over invoice which I find to be more realistic. What do I need to get from the dealer to guarantee that this will be the price that I will pay when I take delivery?

Just get it in writing. There's really no guarantee until the final papers are signed. Make sure you also ask about additional dealer fees for prep, etc. Dealer A may sell for $100 over inv but have a $700 prep fee and $300 admin fee, etc. Just check first.

I totally agree.. when I ordered mine, I had the Gen Sales Manager sign his name to the price of the car.. and also included instructions as what they could/ could not do to my car- no test drives, etc... but be sure and get it in writing

As long as you have it in writing you'll be fine. I got lucky on mine... my sister-in-law is a Ford dealer rep... got the A plan

Like the others said, check on dealership fees but that sounds really good. I'll be getting X-plan when I order, which is about $90 over invoice. The difference being, on a plan sale the dealer cannot charge extra fees.

Don't forget to search out the thread somewhere here on American Quarter Horse Association which will give you a $500 discount on purchase of your Mustang. Just join 30 days prior to delivery.
