I was driving to a local car show today and was exiting onto the I-40 ramp. There is a lot of road construction and the lanes drop from 3 to 2, which caused all of the traffic to stop on the exit ramp.

I slowed to a crawl, then came to a stop on the exit ramp. I gave myself plenty of road between me and the truck in front. I look in the mirror and see this F-350 heavy duty 4X4 pulling a trailer full of yard equipment exiting the freeway onto the exit ramp. I pushed my sequential brake lights 3 or 4 times and realize that this ahole isn't going to stop. He slams on his brakes and with all the weight he is towing, he can't stop in time.

I shove it into 1st and stomp on the gas squealing my tires as I make my way over to the left shoulder. I can only go so far because of the concrete barriers they have set up but it was far enough. AHole manages to go right, I go left and all I see is a blur of the truck & trailer wizzing on past.

I was PO'ed to say the least, but in the end, I made it to the car show, saw some great mustang oldies from 65-71 and took a few pics.

That was too darn close guys & gals!

Glad he missed you and he is OK.

This is what happened last Friday night to my Titan after a drunk driver hit doing around 60. My G/f was driving it at the time, and never saw him coming.

Just consider yourself lucky and smart. One lucky because he could have hit you and smart because you stopped at least to where you can see the tires of the car in front of you rule, therefore allowing you to exit into the left side of the road if need be.
