Too bad the once rumoured V-8 LX didn't happen

Everyone keeps saying to just throw the V8 motor into the V6 body, but then along with it you are getting the V6 7.5" rear end and weak T5 transmission. The tranny would break pretty quick with the torque, and the 7.5 would snap once you hit the track on slicks (or maybe on the street). Then, if you put the GT tranny and rear end, then its just a GT with a different front facia and rear bumper. V6s have all the same standard options and such as the GTs, except ABS as standard equipement.
This whole "LX" thing doesnt really make sense with modern cars. Non-power windows and doorlocks are incredibly inconvenient on a street car, and if you are building an all out drag car, then you will be replacing all of that stuff anyways with race approved equipement.

Does any car company make roll up windows anymore?

Actually the new Ford f-150 can come that way If you get a XL or STX. I know because my 2004 F150 doesn't have power windows or locks. I know it stinks but when you can lease one for $140 a month with no money down I'm not going to complain... too much If i were to have leased one with power locks my payment would have doubled because of the deal they were having at the time. Actually they had a deal similar to it just now that was supposed to end today.
Also I had a LX mustang and it had air and power windows. The only differnce between the lxs that I seen was that they didn't have the added ground effects and fog lights. Just a cleaner look.

I liked rollup windows because their easy to repair, and you don't have a $200 motor to replace.

Yeah, I've owned quite a few cars over the years that had power windows and I've never had to replace a motor. I did have to replace the switches on my '92 LX 5.0 but that's pretty simple.

I used to have an '87 LX 5.0. The reason I liked the car so much is because it didn't have all of the tacked on spoliers and skirts that the GT had, it just had a much "cleaner" look to it. Mine still had power windows, AC, and all the goodies. With the new mustang, there's not all the tacked on garbage, so I don't think that there is really a place for the LX...

On one of my cars it has plastic gears, and I managed to strip the first two teeth when trying to open my window after freezing rain.

What I'd like to see is the INVERSE of the LX formula - A V6 with dual exhausts, 220 hp, 250 lb-ft torque, 17" wheels and tires, bigger front brake rotors, a rear anti-roll bar, and fog lights.
I would be really happy with a car that did 0-60 in less than 6.9 seconds and pulled .89g on the skidpad.
Ford would hesitate to offer such a model, since it would probably cannibalize GT sales.
