Anyways, yes, we are still building Mustang GT's and I haven't heard of any problems with the motor, we have stopped production a couple of times in the last month but for no more than one day and then had the issue resolved(vendors).
Great news, John! ! !

Sounds like the BON story was a bit overblown, if not completely false. :notnice:

Here is the news: I pre-ordered a Black GT, it was built the 9th of
September, it will ship the 13th. the VIN is 1ZVHT82H555100839. It will be in my hands shortly at the "A" plan price. We checked the Ford Database Friday the 10th at the Kansas City Assembly (Claycomo) where my wife works building the Escape and the build (bucked) date and ship (release) date matches the dealer computer (Bob Allen Ford, Overland Park (Kansas City) Kansas) as well. So IT IS REALLY COMING SOON.

more car info:
Black, Auto, red interior, side air bags, 500W shaker, Bullitt type wheels

I am starting to worry about mine...all of these others with low VIN's (600-800s) have been built already. I just called my dealer yesterday and he sent me this.

As of 9/8/04 no change in status, no production date set. Lou
My scheduled build date was 9/6/2004, so it should have been built. Oh well, I will just keep waiting.

edit: my VIN is 100642

That Build date was "Week of 9/06" ......It may have been built later in week. I'd check in early in the week to get an up to minute report.

Hey guys, hate to burst your bubble, but in todays modern auto manufacturing plant, the vin is a randomly created number( at least, the last few numbers, that is), not the old consecutive unit numbers like before. Its for security purposes, and in the 2 Ford plants I've been in, I've never seen any unit have even a number close to the next unit. Now, we use a numbering system in production that is consecutive, but its for in-plant use only. It started in the eighties I believe, when someone discovered that you could use the keys from one car in another, about a few hundred numbers off. In fact, I've heard that nowadays, the first thing created or manufactured is the vin and title, before the car is even built. So, maybe, thats where the numbers are randomized.

I buy on the A plan, but have never pre-ordered one of the three GT's that I have bought. Traditionally, how much does the dealer require as a down payment, when the order is placed? Is the financing done and all the obligatory papers signed at the time the car is ordered?

Thank Amy for your concern and I'll cool it a little now, but... those pics were taken from the employee's parking lot(lot C) where the building is closest to the lot and those cars are parked right out in the open for anyone to see, International Dr. is a public road. But I'll take it easy for sure. Just wish you guys could see up that hall there 'cause at the end of it was the v6 convert. (no camo) and its also the end of our line.
Just giving you a heads up

My dad is a designer at Ford and I know they have him paranoid about any and everything.

Hmmmmm, now that I know that street IS a public street... be on the look out for a Tropic Green Faching Fuilltt Wonder if that one broad is still road testing the verts... she no likey me

I think you should familiarize yourself with that road. Always good to get to know the area near where you live, know what I mean? And if you see anything while on that road, its always good to take a few pics to remember it by. And if they are production mustangs....well, wouldn't that be special.

Amy, where are your pictures by the way? I figured you would have set up camp across the street from that parking area. Forget cranky lady too, she probably is upset because you own a nice looking car, she just gets to test drive them. She probably has a 93 Taurus.

I ordered mine from Marshall Ford in Mayfield. I went there yesterday and told the guy everything I knew from here and he was pleased to learn this news, from me.

He basically said with no build date yet, I could be getting it in November or December. Or he may be mistaken and I'll get it sooner.

All I can say is, if I get it in December, I get to drive it once. From the dealer home. Then itll sit in my garage for 4 months.

ARGH!

Dan --- SHUSH!!!

John -- I've been really busy this past week. We had to put my 16 year old cat to sleep, whole family is feeling that one, so I really haven't left the house unless it's to go to work. And at work we have a new manager, he's something else And now I'm sick :notnice: Fun stuff, right.. hahaha

Hopefully this week will change a little and I can get back to a routine. I'll cruise over there sometime this week and see what's been done

Amy, sorry to hear about your cat, that's gotta be rough. I'll look forward to your pictures and stories of making that lady cranky once again.

Some dealers want around a $500 deposit at the time the order is sent, but others don't require a deposit until a build date is given. Financing and all other paperwork is not completed at this time, but as far as I know, that is taken care of upon delivery.
