Its probably the hidden feature found in the SN 95, where you can run free diagnostics from your dash. Pretty kool that they chose to carry it over

I believe all cars are going to have tire pressure monitors in the future (safety standards). The mustang may just be ahead of the curve.

Thats not a hidden feature on the SN95 (there is a hidden digital speedo etc)
That is on the S197 and it is infact a tirepressure monitor (as all cars are required to have one in the near future)

That display you see is also called the 'info center' (2 line LCD)
Apparently its an option.
There is also a 'low tire pressure' idiot light on the tach side as well.

Federal mandate. 20% of each manufactures vehicles must come with a tire pressure monitoring system with dash display. It is either for the 2004 production year or2005 MY whichever. I work for Subaru in Indiana and we have had to start putting them on all of our vehicles. So I imagine the mustang will have them too. There is a sensor attached to each valve stems that transmits tire pressure to a relay on the vehicle. Other systems have a sending unit in the wheel/valve somewhere and a recorder in the wheel well. It reads the wheel speed. If the speed of one tire is faster then the others it sends a pressure fault. That type is a pain if you want to change tire sizes. :bang:

I hope it gives a PSI reading rather than a "Low Pressure" reading.

What other "cool" computer functions will it have besides a TPMS?
Travel Odometer? Timer? MPG? Outside Temp? etc...etc..?

All the subaru's say is low tire pressure. I dont even think they tell you which tire it is. Most manufactures are looking at it as more of a hassel then a chance to improve the product.

My wife's car has the "Low Pressure" light...so needless it doesn't say which tire. Even worse is it only registers when one tire is 12 PSI below any one of the other 3.

I wish Subaru's system waited until one was 12 less then the others. If it falls 2psi below spec the monitor lights up. It seems to me it would more then likely be on most of the time.

Sounds like a good way to charge $ for labor when the chicks come in to get it fixed. I recommend they pay another $50 for horn fluid when they come in also.

It'll just say "Tire Pressure Low"....the newest Windstars have it and the Freestar does too.

That LCD will probably display.......TPMS, Trip odometer, travel odometer, trip time, direction of travel, temperature, MPG

should be fairly similar to my moms 2003 Explorer Eddie Bauer

There are two types Ford uses now, Expedition and Explorer have valve stem systems that will relay which wheel is low on air, Freestar uses the abs computer to determine if one wheel is rolling slower then the others, the display does not tell which wheel it is, and doesnt require any special hardware. Most likely this will be the one they use, it shouldnt cost anything to do it since its only in the programing when the car has a message center in the dash.
