Tie rod ends on 07 gt 77,000 miles??????

Went to get the 07 gt inspected, they are telling me it needs both tie rod ends replaced. Has 77,000 miles any one else have this problem?

I replaced mine. Easy job and I went to autozone for the parts.

Not unusual. Like Glenn said pretty easy to do. Just try not to let the whole thing spin when trying to get the old one off and get an alignment after you finish

Had to change mine on a 07 gt with 30,000 miles even with the smooth roads here in south Florida.

I put boots on mine before they got dirt in them...they wear out because the boots disintegrate...they had a similar problem with valvestems rotting from 05-08.

pics there of mine. sadly the big fat lower control arm bushing is crap rubber too, it had cracks in the rubber at a year old on all three of our cars.

Pretty sure that's most of it they don't come from the factory greaseable which goes for pretty much any new part that has grease in it, so once crap gets in it or the boot gets torn you can't do much but replace it with greasable aftermarket ones

still kinda greaseable with the hypodermic needle, but cant flush out the old grease like with a zerk...hate the fact they skimp on a few pennies worth of fittings that will end up costing >$100 for parts/alignment minimum- coupled with the total garbage grade of rotting chinese rubber, its pretty pathetic on Fords part... had they used decent rubber they should last >100k easy.

letting bean counters dictate content that assists post-warranty is not smart... still Fords name on the car whether in warranty or not.

things that shoulnt be 'features': break off spark plugs, non-ozone resistant rubber boots, no grease fittings, no seam sealer on hood undersides...all this stuff leaves only two possibilities:

planned obsolescence or poor engineering/quality control

you won't really need an alignment if you take a few measurements before you take the old one off.
