For those of you waiting for Mobil 1 in 5W-20

Cool!
Now only if Wally-World (AKA WALMART) will stock the stuff in the 5 Qt jug I'll be a happy camper... I have not checked yet, but In suspect the oil capacity is 6.0 US quarts? no?...

TacoBill,
The decision on when to use a synthetic debate is at best described as a very personnal issue... You'll rarely get the same answer twice... now that you've "popped the cork" let the discussion rage...
I personnally don't see a problem switching over after initial break -in ... say 3000 Miles...
I have run Mobil 1 15W-30 (or a sythetic blend on occasion) in my 89 5.0 for the last 10 years... No problems... I also run Mobil 1 15W-50 in my 03 Buell XB9S and have done so since after the 500 mile break-in (I also run it in the primary)... I got 10K on the Buell works better-n-new...

There are many opinions on when to switch to a full synthetic.
I read this article, Oil as well as listening to others who have made the switch at ~10K. Some may agree, other may not. I have ~7K on my Mach, and will use Dino-Oil 1-2 more times and then switch.

When switching to Mobil 1, at what mileage should it be done? And why not when the engine is new?

On my last two cars, I switched to Mobil 1 at the first oil change (approx. 1,000-2,000 miles). The Mazda only has 17K on it but the my previous (Acura Integra) had around 50K on it when I sold it. Haven't had a problem with either switching that soon.

Awesome Mark!
That one issue (lack of Mobil 1 5W-20) has been bugging me big-time ever since I found out that 5W-20 is the recommended oil. Now I can sleep peacefully, and dream of the day my order finally arrives at the dealer. B)

Well that article was a great read, but now I'm confused. I was planning on putting Mobil 1 in at 3k miles, but after reading that article I am not sure about that now. He states that 10-12k is a good point to start using full synthetics, before that the engine hasn't fully broken in yet.
Course I just bought 35 dollars worth of Mobil 1 yesterday too, bleh.

But as with most other things . . you can take that with a grain of salt.
