Those with superchargers...

I recently had my saleen installed, and just a simple question, if you are driving say at 55mph and give the throttle a little stab to get moving but not kick down, do you feel an initial lag before the car gets going? Also I have an auto.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds more like the automatic trans that's causing the lag, IMO. You can have your tuner reduce that lag by adusting the drive-by-wire. Also, have him turn off the "torque management" for your automatic trans. And, my favorite mod for automatics for instant grunt is a good, aftermarket (high rpm) stall converter.

Yeah I know about the converter, next year though. How do our autos hold up to the extra power?

My automatic is holding up very well. 4800 rpm stall converter and quite a few 1/4 mile passes, but with frequent trans fluid changes to be safe.

4800, that's pretty high.

I would agree with the converter but I'm not slamming it down just giving a push to get some speed, I guess it's hard to explain but I'm sure you get it.

I was also told to shift down to like 3rd before slamming it down, but I always though downshifting wasn't recommended to do.

What kind of "little stab" are you giving? If you don't toe into the throttle enough, the bypass valve will not close to give you boost. Then you're just a normal regular old 300+ hp car. (We are so spoiled)

Listen to the engine to see of you can hear the supercharger adding boost. If I'm in 5th at 70mph and I toe into the throttle but don't downshift, the car doesn't zoom off like I think it should either, although it's still much quicker than stock. 4th gear brings the grin and 3rd gear... well that's just stupid fast in no time. Wet roads here till April or so, though so no fun for me for a while.

Your tuner can fix that lag. I had Adam with ST Motorsport work on my car, in fact I've been using him since mid 2005.

Here's a video I made because people on another site wanted to know thing about my PI 3 stage converter.

My last dyno my car made 447rwhp/425tq

Well that's what I mean, it feels like I lost some of that 300hp car, I never noticed it before the SC, I'm just wondering if it's something normal with a SC car or just not.

As I watched your night time video, I was watching the rpm's everytime you mashed the throttled. Looks like your PI converter is flashing to about 4200 to 4500 rpm's. Mine is just a few hundred higher. Lots of people think that's too high, but I feel it's great for our cars. Your thoughts on such a high rpm flash/stall speed?

The one thing about my car is it has a safe tune. I can't get any more out of it until I get the motor rebuilt. You should call Adam and ask him some questions, he is hard to get a hold of (real busy) just to let you know. 1 (909) 388-2536. But Adam is good at what he does.http://www.spankintime.com/

I'd try a new tune first. I have had great experiences with Justin at VMP Tuning.

I had the same problem when I had the 06 with the Whipple. It was an automatic problem........Doug finally figured it out with NO help from Whipple. Before the TMS crash there were several topics covering this. Hopefully some more supercharged automatic owners will chime in.

Manual owner here and this sounds nothing like my Saleen SC.

It's got to be an auto transmission thing.
