Maybe if this was to be an on going thing just have it one place one year then rotate it around the country every other year.

here's info I got today from racetracks Ford show people around country by e-mail
1st was Lowes Speedway let be in largest carshow and auction for next spring Food Lion Auto show next April.
2nd was Carlise All Ford show in Carlise,PA in June of 06, we can park together at the show, plus we get tent and a banner with TMS 05/06 Mustang club on it. but we need 50 05 Mustangs to get a tent.
3rd was the WFC World Ford Challage at Gateway race tracks in St.Louis, MO May of 06.
4th one is Mustang Club of America Grand National Show in Youngstown, OH this Sept. 2-5, 2005 or next year's Grand National show .

All the pre 05 Stangers will be jealous! I vote for a place that's fun more so than centrally located.

Open the book, you will see there are more than enough Mustang gatherings to go to .....

You don't have to be a member to go to their shows.
Just go to an MCA National.
Like the one near Kansas City.
I'm not because we're doing something else. We will be in Youngstown, Ohio Labor Day weekend.

holderca1, actually, Kansas City is in both KS and MO. It honestly depends on what PART of KC. If you drive from one end of KC to the other, you cross state lines.

I’m one block from the Indianapolis 500 track. They have a “Community Day” where you can take your personal car for a lap around the track. You’d have to wait until ’06 when I get mine, however ...

I've never been jealous of seeing brand new Mustangs at car shows, but just rather curious to why a lot of them were there in the first place. Often, it's because some first time Mustang owner just wants to think everyone else is jealous of the new ride.
In actuality, he's likely the one hoping there isn't another car just like his at the event....especially if it's better equipted or modified in such a way as to make his car go relativly unnoticed. And looking at rows of basically stock regular production new cars with less that 1000 miles on them doesn't do much for me, as it might for you as an owner of one.
People that own older cars for many years, keep and restore them, tend to have a different attitude and reasoning about going to a car show, than those who are there simply to show off their latest new toy. So, again...don't kid yourself into thinking 40 years worth of older Mustang owners are there green with envy over your '05. To us, it's basically glitter, but hardly the main reason any of us came to the show in the first place.
As for the aforementioned meet in itself......perhaps a fun event for those that want to party and meet their internet forum buddies etc. Other than that...I'll probably see all the '05's I'd want at any one time, and in smaller doses, attending regular shows and cruise ins for the next 40 years.

If we were going to congregate at the race track, it is in KCK.

I, like KansasCityTim, would favor the Kansas City location but, like him, I am a bit biased. After reading the posts in this thread I think a major point is what do people want to do? What activities would we be looking for and find the best place suited for the activities. Kansas City is about 45 minutes from Topeka. In Topeka we have Heartland Park, a very nice dragstrip that also has a roadcourse. The SCCA is headquartered about a mile north of Heartland Park and there are events throughout the year for any number of groups. Would something like that be desireable if it could be set up?
Aside from that, not the best cruise areas around here. So, if Kansas City was a possible but you might want something a little more cruise friendly for a lot of cars, Tulsa is just a few hours south. That has an OK dragstrip, nothing fancy, but you have the shopping, eats, it should be easy to find a host with lots of room and some nice scenic drive areas to the east around some lakes and smaller towns.
A little further east you have the Ozarks, northern Arkansas/southern Missouri. That would be some fantastic drives but some of those roads might be a little hazardous given the number of cars that might show up.
While east and west coast meets would be more desireable they would end up being more regional, as will any meet for that matter. The central US will draw from all areas of the midwest and southcentral but how many will travel from the coasts? I would bet on not many. Next week my wife and I are driving to Vegas. We are going to an All Ford Show hosted by the Mustang Club of Las Vegas. We are members of the Yellow Mustang Registry, which has over 4000 members, for a meet in conjunction with the Vegas one. So far, 40 yellows are signed up with us and a car from Canada, just over the border from Seattle, about even on who is driving the furthest. Most of the cars are from California, Arizona and Nevada. This is a major event but people just don't want to drive a few thousand miles to get to a car show/meet.
It might be a little better to pick a region that may have the most attendance and then decide on what people want out of the meet. Narrow it down from there.
