Turns out you are correct. I was getting worried there. Ebony is black and it looks darker than space itself.

Am I reading this correctly? Is exterior black no longer an option?
Ebony Clearcoat is an exterior color. That's black...

[QUOTE]Full certification testing is not yet complete. However, Hau Thai-Tang, director, Advanced Product Creation and Special Vehicle Team, says achieving 475 horsepower is no problem. "We have great confidence that the 2007 Shelby GT500 will produce at least 475 horsepower -- perhaps more. And that would be right in line with the original GT500 experience. It, too, under promised and over delivered."[QUOTE]

from mediaford.com
http://media.ford.com/products/presskit_di...=423&make_id=92

according to this I believe that the gt500 has more hp than 475, im positive it's under rated with at least 500hp.

GT500 is 432lbs heavier than the GT.

How much heavier was the 2004 Cobra over the 2004 GT?

Nevermind, found it (kinda)

2004 Cobra coupe 3665lbs
2002 GT coupe 3241lbs

Which is 424lbs, so not much difference than the last cobra and GT.

guys, there is a boatload of info in media.ford.com. The whole press kit is there. You have to register.

1. optional interior upgrade for more leather and aluminum pedals

2. optional sirius satelite and shaker 500 or optional 1000.

There is more. I just can't keep up with it.
That site just fraks you around! You go and register for an account - then when you go back to click on photos, THEN it tells you you must be an accredited member of the News Media to view the actual high res photos.

I hate bullcrap sites like that.

Car seems ok though.

Most apparent is the use of light-faced gauges, a tradition on SVT’s cars and trucks and one that can improve readability under a variety of lighting conditions. The gauges also boast SVT graphics.
Is this something new? Do the gauges look light-faced to anyone?

Looks like they split the difference on the leather interior: the dash gets it, but the door panels do not (save the armrests). I hope the combination of all that cheap plastic with the leather dash doesn't look too tacky. Either way, it just screams, "We didn't have enough money to finish the job properly so we cut some more corners."

Oh, well, can't expect everything, I suppose, given Ford's current financial health.

Here is a link to the GT500 video, and other Ford pictures.

Follow the link below in my signature, and click on 2006 NAIAS & LA Show link once on that page. A list of various vehicles at the show will come up to choose from, the GT500 being at the top of the list.

Interesting tidbit:

OPTIONS:

DELETE OPTIONS:
"LeMans" stripes Coupe only
"GT500" side stripes Coupe, Convertible

So it appears that you can delete the side stripes as well. Too bad you can't delete that ugly lettering on the back.

Sounds like SVT isn't going anywhere.

"SVT will remain the leader in performance vehicle engineering," says Thai-Tang. "It will continue to build new, innovative products using advanced processes that will not only provide great enjoyment to the dedicated driving enthusiast, but that also will provide great benefit to other Ford products and Ford Motor Company itself."

Okay, since I work for Ford I'll be the first to say that we're obviously not gonna make everyone 100% happy with the car. That being said I think some people are whining WAY too much.

Here is the GT500 before us all. At least 475 hp! There is the option of leather dashes! (may not be to everyone specific tast but it's ignorant to put it down before seeing).

Looking at this beauty I would say that Ford did a topnotch job with it. HTT kept his promise and kept it the way it should be!

Great job

Good post. I think the car is a homerun. I don't like every last detail, but, overall, it is a beautiful, powerful, nicely trimmed car for the money.

Thanks CrazyHorse!

That pretty much sums up my idea on the car. Like you said, every last detail isn't perfect for me but thats why we have aftermarket companies.

Just goes to show there is no such thing as a perfect car.
