Mustang: The 2007 Shelby GT500 coupe and convertible will begin arriving in Ford showrooms this summer. Prices are expected to start at under $40,000. Both versions of the GT500 will be marketed as part of Ford's SVT performance portfolioand here's why: Under the hood is a supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 churning out more than 450 horses and lashed to a six-speed manual gearbox. The GT500 convertible will get a power folding top made of premium fabric. And it eschews the fat nose-to-tail racing stripes that adorned the coupe, in favor of a more subtle stripe job on the rocker panels. Inside, the dash and door panels are rendered in black leather, with seats trimmed in red. Otherwise, the ragtop shares most sheet metal and hardware with the hardtop, including the solid rear axle that was introduced on the 2005 Mustang. The standard Mustang V-6 offers a new Pony Package that includes sport suspension, larger wheels and tires, ABS, traction control and a custom grille with foglamps.

Thanks for posting the link, as it says in the article an you could see on the pictures, it is going to have full leather interior, i sort of like the changes, at least they kept something saying SHELBY in the back. Now all we have to wait for is the official pricing and specs
.
IF that is it (which it seems to be) I have to say Ford did a pretty good job of staying faithful to the concept. Not super crazy about the off-centered "Shelby" (I was a fan of the concept lettering) but understandable with the third brake light.
darn I wish I had some cash....I'd burn those tires like there's no tomorrow. School first . :bang:

I'm skeptical. The outside looks identical to the concept except for the hood and "shelby" on the trunklid.
Also, the interior looks pretty much identical. Weren't we suposed to get more bolstered seats. Those look like the same "touched up" GT seats that were in the concept...
Also, check out the adrenalin photos. no question that is the concept, suggesting that maybe these are just concept photos...
fingers crossed...
still hoping...
midnight is so far away...
by the way, the BACK seats in the adrenalin concept look better than the front seats in the GT500...WTF

On a related topic, I saw an interview with the Mayor of Detriot tonight from Cobo Hall and he was standing amongst a trio of 67-69 Camaros at the GM display. Now why would they have those there if they weren't planning a debut of the "new" Camaro concept? Enquiring minds want to know!

If this is the official version (and it sure looks like it is) I'm impressed.
I do miss the old school SHELBY lettering on the back from the concept, but the new letters are sweet...much better than just having the Cobra emblem on the back.
I am very glad they kept the leather interior upgrades. Now my only question is what color to get.
I'm getting one, no question. This'll be the view most people will see of me...

it should say GT500 opposite of Shelby on the other side of the stripes. It looks kinda funny as is.

I think that's one sexy butt!!! Love the tire size, love the Shelby on the left. Class. Much better than the big, over the top 80's cheesey Shelby on the concept. Remember, the snake in the front grill is "off-center".......and......... it's on the left as well.......oh no.....the Shelby is 3oz heavier on the left now....those rotten Ford designers.......this car is useless for staight line racing........it's going to pull left all the time......
I love how all the angles they shot the car from are low - no doubt to de-emphasize those things called hood scoops.
Not bad overall, though I'm not really feeling the Shelby badge on the left hindquarter - looks a bit like a tacked on afterthought.
And those cheapo non-breakaway mirrors are still there, I see. :notnice:
Everything else seems not too bad...and YES I am thrilled they kept the leather dash (though I can't tell what kind of bolstering the seats have).
But I have to add: No way this car is worth a $10K premium over sticker for, though - NO WAY.
