This is gonna be long and I have no pictures but I have to tell everyone. My wife wrecked our 05 today. I m very thankful no was hurt bad, wife very sore. The car is totaled, I hope. She was on way home from Huntsville and a IDIOT in a neon tried to pass on a hill on a double yellow, she tried to get off the road to avoid a headon collision but he hit her on drivers door and went down the side. The rear wheel was knocked off , rearend appears to b broke in 3 places, quarter panel is ripped. Exhaust torn off , rear bumper destroyed and more underneath. I seen enough to know I do not want this car fixed. I m sick will not sleep tonight . The guy had no D.L. and the car was not his, said he had Ins. but no proof so I figure he didnt. Can t do anything till monday, will be a looooong weekend.

Wow, thats the worst accident story I've heard yet. Glad to hear your wife is ok.

Hope the cops came? He should have been arrested. I would have made sure he was.

Wow. I'm glad nobody was hurt bad. Sore's good, mean's she's alive.

Good luck with the whole insurance thing. And if he doesn't, make sure to sue him to kingdom come, it's the American Way, ya know...

And please make sure to check out everything. I know a lovely lady who has trouble just standing, sitting, anything really, has had several surgeries, all due to a wreck. She's not getting better either, so check it ALL out.

Best wishes.

Wow, that is horrible about the car but glad you wife is alright.

Did the police arrest the person, or at least do an accident report?

That is a terrible thing to have happen, but at least no serious injuries.

Did your car have side air bags? If so does your wife think they helped protect her?

And while it seems a little weak to use smiley's to comment on the guy that caused the wreck, here are a couple that scratch the surface...

He was not arrested, friend of mine is a cop he was there and said they couldn t arrest him. State Trooper wrote it up. Local people who know the guy said he is trouble, have been telling cops for months to get get him off the roads. No, my car did not have side airbags. I ordered this car 6-10-04 got it 10-14-04 and now its smashed.

Can't arrest him for driving without a license? Wow, those are some lax laws.

That's horrible to hear man. I hope everything checks out ok with your wife. I would have told the cops to arrest him for his own safety, because I probably would want to play vigilante.

that stinks man im glad no one was hurt to bad and tell your wife we all glad she is ok

as far as the car the insurance in most states wont total the car untill you do 75% damage of what the vehicles worth so im guessing it would have to be around 15000 or more in damage for them to total it and thats alot , so theres a good chance they will want to fix the car and thats going to be the worse part having all that body work and rear end work done on a new car, and knowing it was someone elses fault, man i would be sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo pissed

good luck with the insurance i sure hope he has it and keep us posted if ya dont mind

If it eases your mind any he had to have some sort of insurance. State Patrol almost always runs it in an accident since they have it plugged into their cars now. If he didnt, he would have been arrested on the spot for just that. I know AL doesnt make you have much, but atleast it may be better than nothing.

Funny. When they guy who hit me & totalled my 02 Stang he was arrested. Of course I do live in TN & have yet to have a accident in AL. But the guy who hit me was "medicated", driving with no ins, an expired drive out tag, & a suspended license. Like I said they took him in right then.Of course had they not then my mom & I may have jumped him & then they would have had to called the ambluance back & arrested the 2 of us .

Anyway. Sorry about the car. Glad everyone is ok. I hope you get enough from insurance to make a nice down payment on another stang. When I had mine my ins paid off my car & left me with a little down payment. Also our ins didn't go up & we signed power of attorney to them so they could go after the guy. All in all a pretty painless insurance experience. I hope yours is as well.

Keep us updated. Again good luck.
