test drove '07 blue GT premium AUTO

hi all,
just wanted to share that the test drive was AMAZING!

wow!!!

i had an '02 BMW M3 as well as '01 mercedes CLK430 SPORT pkg.

I must say...i enjoyed the GT more!!

the steering was very responsive. The car did NOT feel light and cheap...

Well it definitley isn't light... Congrats, just remember that you'll likely have a few minor anoyances with this inexpensive Ford that you wouldn't get with an overpriced German car. What I'm saying is don't expect perfection from this car. It's no big deal just make the dealer fix any rattles / broken switches etc that will inevitable crop up, or ignore them because the car's just too **** fun to spend time thinking about a rattle.

All of the Fords we have owned over the past 30+ years have had dash rattling. I've gotten used to it to the point that I no longer notice it.

I've never driven any Mercedes but have driven several bimmers, including the new 3-Series, which is a nice car and feels tight but pales in comparison when it comes to fun and value.

and if you are into modding and have lots of fun with it, bmw is rediculous $.

the 'stang can keep going for many years of enjoyment!

back to the topic, WOW! i was blown away with how great the GT felt and rode. steering so responsive and precise.

It's funny that all of the import guys make fun of the new Mustang for still having poor handling, yet the FR500C won the Grand-Am series, and a 350Z in the same series did not.

If they would drive it, they would feel how tight and responsive the steering is, I was very suprised myself! The '03 Mustang GT that my brother used to have didn't even feel like these do.

I haven't had any rattles, but i'm very very disappointed with the trunk area paneling and where the bright people at Ford decided to put the fuse box.

never driven any of the earlier Mustangs (like 03 and 04s) - are they a serious step down from the new model in handling?

Yes, a very SERIOUS step-down. Here's one example, if you are trying to make a sharp turn in a parking lot, forget about it! You crank the wheel and you barely turn. You almost need an entire city block just to make a turn (haha SLIGHT ;-) exaggeration!). On the new 'Stangs, the car goes where you want it to go.

Heck yeah they are. I almost bought an 02 GT but ended up waiting for mine. The clutch and shifting is horrible on the older models.
