--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well i drove it for about 20 miles........

2005 GT Silver Premium ..Shaker 1000...Black Leather 5-SPD

First i want to say that i LOVE this car and i am waiting to get one that I want, not what they have on the lot....O.K... to the review

Car sounds nice....I have an 04 Mach ....The 05 sounds nice,, a little more rumble than the 04 GT but not as loud as a MACH

The shifter is nice....short...the clutch is SO light i cant believe it it feels like AIR
One thing i cannot get over, as i was getting on it a little the tranny LOCKED me out of third!!!!!! Typical T 3650 !!!!

Handiling is AWESOME!
Car feels SOLID....in potholes....on turns... it really gives you a sense of posture

As for the power i am dissapointed
As i got on it it feels ANEAMIC...
It DOES not pull like a MACH...So everyone out there STOP comparing this car to a MACH b/c i can tell you this right now a MACH will STOMP it!

The tranny makes some WEIRD noises as downshifting ...not all the time but when it wants to

I also heard a strange faint ticking sound in the center part of the engine during acceleration (salesman made out he didnt hear it)

I love the interior ....Playing with the colors is REALLY cool and different

The tranny is still a little notchy but not as bad as the previous Stang....I had an 03 GT prior to my Mach and i know how knotchy that tranny is ....

Overall i LOVE the car and will be keeping my Mach and adding the 05 to the family
If i still had my 03 GT id trade it in a HEARTBEAT!
I wouldnt care how upsidedown.....
But the Mach pulls like a ***** So i wouldnt even think of getting rid of it

To be honest with you guys....the 05 GT doesnt feel underated it feels OVERATED

I want you guys to go out and drive this car and get on it.....Tell me what YOU think...

If i was driving a 04 GT everyday this car would feel fast... but i drive my 04 MACH So the 05 GT feels like it doesnt pull the way it should

Well....Im waiting for my Performance White GT with black stripes and red leather and the Shaker 1000

Go out and drive this car NOW

Silverbull-

The 05 tears up the Mach in 0-60 runs. Also, when it breaks in, it will be faster than the mach.

Part of the difference is most likely that the '05 GT is so much more refined it just does not fee like it's going as fast as it really is.

Probably. I know driving a Lexus doesn't feel like it is going fast, while driving a mustang slowly feels like it is fast .

How do you know it will be faster than the Mach? Are you guessing or just hoping? How can you refute somone who owns one of the cars and is buying and DROVE the other. I get tired of people comparing this car to the Mach. It doesnt have 32valves, it doesnt have 4 cams, as high a compression ratio or rev as hi. I'll tell everyone now it wont be a fast as the Mach, but it doesn't have to be. The 05 GT has so much more going for it than any previous Mustang. If people are buying this car to be the quickest car on the street, I believe they will be disappointed and are also short changing the car. The new '05 is an awesome car (love to have one myself). In other words, its not all about having the most power. example: F-body or the new GTO.

Mach 1's are great cars, but to say they pull a lot harder then a 05 is bullpoo.

A mach will stomp it? Funny, considering this is the 2nd fastest mustang ever from 0-60mph, from there a 4-valve DOHC Mach I MIGHT pull harder, but it should be either a drivers race or a victory for the 05

Could it be that the 05 doesn't "feel" like it pulls as hard as the Mach 1 because the new suspension is so much better?

Just a thought.

Why start this stupid argument again? It went no where last time and won't this time. No one will know for sure until we see evidence. Not someone saying they saw a race, but an actual video taped race or some real dyno sheets comparing an 04 mach 1 and a broken in 05 gt.

You have to remember the poor balance of sn-95 makes them "feel" like they are acclerating a lot faster then they really are. I would fight and scream Mustangs around tracks and autocrosses and get out and look at my times....'WHAT?' It has such a high roll center everything feels exagerated, my steeda stage 3 suspended 00 GT felt like it was on rails going around the smooth offramp every night at its limits.........untill I found out how easilly the SVTF goes around the same turn at least 15mph faster without even squealing a tire. I drove the V6 auto today and was very impressed with the pickup, I would say it would easilly give an 04 GT 'vert a run for its money, I think its only a little slower then an 04 GT coupe automatic, although the 04 would "feel" much faster to the driver.

Does the mach have lower rear end gear ratio? That would also change the feel.

The high levels of weight transfer though enhance the 'feeling' of going fast. SOTP is virtually worthless for judging speed of different platform cars, it only tells you how much faster your own car is after doing mods.

Talking

Yeah, everyones got it on the nose.

Feeling fast, and being fast are 2 different things.
For 'xample...

My parents 04 Grand Prix 3.8, compared to my 3.8 02 Auto V6
The 04 FEELS SO quick....definately quicker than the stang...however...

I raced one with a friend in my car and an 04 with only the driver...and totalled him....smoked em like a polish sausage!

Horsepower/Torque and their curves, delivery, refinement all contribute to it.

For me I'm sure the 05 GT will feel insanely quick.
A Mach1 is no slouch, and these cars are very close.....but one may feel like an enraged bull on steroids bar fighter...the other performs equal, but has a refinement of technical boxer who dances around his opponent and obliterates him.
Both may get the job done, but in different ways.

With a 5 speed auto kickin out a 13.6 for Motortrend...I'll I have to say is...the Mach1/05GT race will be VERY interesting.
But either won't be decimating each other.
Very capible cars....with maybe not so capable drivers

Bring it on

Maybe I can compare it because Motor Trend and other tested the numbers. Gee, your right. I can't say its faster than the Mach or even hope with all of the numbers that are out there.

All the numbers huh? Motor trend drove 1 car 13.6 @ 99mph. Im sorry I dont buy it. Unless that car is pulling 1.8s in the 60' it doesnt make sense to me, not on street tires. I also dont see any other times. You own neither and probably never driven either so dont magazine race. I didnt want to bring this up but Motor Trend ran a 13.2 at 106.7 with a 5speed Mach and MMFF backed it up with a 13.18 and later ran a slower 13.5. I only believe the 05 times from the every day person and the times I see when MMFF takes a production 5speed and does their magic. I hope they pull a 13.2, especially for your sake. Beleive me I want to be wrong. I would like to buy an SE in the next couple of years

Not trying to start an agrument. I think its a great car. We agree on the car and judging by your sig, politically as well!

Just because a magazine CAN do it..doesn't mean it will be the norm.
MT or MMFF

Is it capable..sure.
Will guys be knockin those times off on a regular basis?
Probably not.

HOWEVER...if that Auto is as fast...well guess what..its more consistant than ANY manual.....better watch out for those puppies

ya. I meant in 0-60 though. I didn't mean to sound hostile in any way. Either way, they are both fast.
