Really? They must have changed it. On my '06 GT, when the TCS comes on, the traction light on the instrument cluster will start flashing about once a second for as long as the wheels are spinning.

I don't think I've tried this personally, but one thing you might be able to try is jack up the rear of the car SECURELY ON JACK STANDS so the rear wheels are off the ground, then put the car in gear and see what happens. It should mimick a burnout, i.e. your back wheels are spinning but your front wheels aren't. It's not the safest thing to do I'm sure, so just be smart about it and be safe.
