Forget Geico, Pregresive or any online insurance company. You need to walk in a local insurance agency. I would recommend calling friends/relatives to see who they use.

Good luck.

Geico blows. They quoted me someting like $3000 for 6 months when I bought my 05 GT. I have a clean record and this would have been my 4th Stang GT. I told them to kiss my hiney and thanks for the 50% or more quote. I called a few others, most of which we're "reasonable" but decided on sticking with my current provider, USAA. I'm 27 and single and pay close to $2000 a year. I know it stinks but there is nothing lower than that for me in Florida. Not to mention I am FULLY covered.
That's strange, I am 25, live in Florida and I have USAA but I pay about $1400 a year. You must live in one of the larger cities.

I've been with State Farm forever. I pay $1800 a year for full coverage on 2 vehicles; an '05 GT and a '96 Toyota 4wd. I checked around and nobody could touch State Farm's rates for me. I'm 37 now, but they were still the lowest back when I first purchased insurance at age 20. I've never had any major claims, only small stuff like glass breakage. They have always been easy to deal with and never jacked my rate.

You're going to be paying more than the average, but $8k sounds ridiculous. Like a few others said, keep calling around. Check everywhere!! After I bought my 2005 V6, my insurance increased almost $1,600 per year compared to my 1998 GT. I didn't have full coverage on the GT, but it still sounded too weird to me, so I checked around. Now, I'm below what I was paying with my old car by about $200 and a full $1,800 below my former company's quote on the new Mustang.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to take a defensive driving course in your state. That will usually save you 10%.

Being young does stink. In 1968 beford I went in the service I had a 66 Pont LeMans ovhd cam 6. I lived in North Philadelphia which was considered center city. The car was $4200 new and my insurance was $2200/year on my parents policy since I had a couple fender benders. That was alot of $$ in '68 when my weekly take home was about $100. Luckily my parents helped or I would have been taking the bus.
Now I live in a very rural area with low crime, etc and I am an old fart. My house and cars are on the same policy and the GT vert is $232 every 6 months for full coverage and high liability limits.
Check out $1000 ded collision and $500 ded comp, may make a big difference.

I got V6 premium and about 600/6 months. 28 y/o male. No infractions, but my first insurance on my own after being on my parents. GT would've been about 800/6 per the agent. (Nationwide)

Hey try Allstate, I am shopping around for insurance for an 06 and we used the 05 Gt specs and they quoted me $567 every 6 months. The car would be in my name. I am 18 and no tickets. That is also with a good student discount. Good Luck

Try Mercury insurance..I had State Farm for over 25 years till I got this 05 GT..They wanted to double my rates on this car.. It was going to go from 600.00 every six months on both cars to 1200.00...I thought well it's a new car and my other car was a 86 GT, But I did start looking and found Geico was higher Pregresive to be about the same..But the quote I got from Mercury was just about what I was paying on my 86 GT for my 05 But the best price I found was with Wawanesa..I went with them I'm now paying 1,180.00 a year on both cars But you have to have a almost perfect record..If you get more then 3 points they will drop you like a rock

Try Progressive.com, I have been with them for years. I have 1 at fault accident and 1 ticket and pay $516.00 a half for the 'Stang and the wife's 05 Town and Country, that's for full coverage plus GAP insurance! BTW If you don't have GAP insurance I suggest you get it. Oh yeah I'm 34, she's 39. Maybe that helps????

$70 per month... With two cars total $160/month (discount for house included in total) . I actually pay less for me in the GT than my wife unit who drives the 03 jeep liberty. I have high level of coverage too and $250 deductable.

$8000/yr is robbery.

Try State Farm. When I was forced off my parent's policy by moving out of state I got quotes from several companies. State Farm was lower than all the rest, and it was a name I had actually heard of. I figured they might be there if/when I ever needed them. I was 22, the year was 1992, the car was an 88 5.0 GT Vert, the cost was $2000/yr. No accidents, probably a couple of tickets.

Remember to get a quote with the highest deductible you can. Good Luck!

I would guess with the issues in Morgantown WV concerning
"celebrations" after sporting events that insurance is probably
higher there due to location. Are you from Morgantown, or are
you just going to school there? Also is there anyway for you to
stay on your parents insurance policy?

$8,000 a year for insurance. Dang my friend, buy a piece of junk 4 banger and insure it with liability only. Put the remainder $7,500 away into long term investment and you'll be a millionaire by the time 50 rolls around.
