SUSPENSION NOISES
#1
I just took delivery of my '06 GT with the 18" Bullits, and the suspension sounds a little bit clunky (almost a popping sound) on the front right when I go over bumps. Is this because of the low profile tires? It has been a while since I have test driven one, and honestly I can't remember if it is normal or not.
Thanks,
Tom

Do a search , I believe there's a TSB on the popping sound ...

I would think that they would have corrected that problem at the factory long ago. Mine was built in April 2005, and never had the clunking noise.

My '06 has the transmission TSB but I can't get it fixed yet because there isn't a TSB for the '06 even though it's the same friggin transmission with the exact same problems!
I would imagine that Ford is trying to save money by going ahead and using parts they know are faulty hoping that the person will simply ignore the problem. I mean heck they ALREADY have the faulty parts why not take the chance? Otherwise they have to fix the problem right away.
AND if the person does take it in... well they can delay the fix as long as possible (like my case) until their bean counters tell them it's more economically viable to go ahead and fix it.
Take it in... raise heck until they fix it. That's what I'm doing.

I've got a noisy right front too. No popping, just a slight clunking or knocking at low speed on bumpy roads. This has annoyed me since day one, for nearly a year and 6000 miles now. It hasn't gotten any louder or any quieter for that matter. Two trips to the service department have gotten me zilch. They can't hear it. That's funny, since more than one passenger has commented on it. I be willing to leave it with dealer, but they need to admit to hearing it first.
Oh, Gearhead, I'll try tightening those bolts. Thanks.

I am getting a popping sound at parking lot speeds when making hard turns or going over speed bumps. It is intermittent and infrequent. I have read the TSB and have a question: is this just a noise that I could live with, or are my front springs and bearings slowly grinding themselves out? I mean will it hurt anything if I choose to ignore it, or will my front wheels eventually fly off somewhere? Does anybody know? If it were a real hazard, wouldn't there have been a recall by now?

Here's a link to the popular front end popping TSB.
I would take your car back to the dealer and get them to take a look at it either way. It may be a loose sway bar or something.
I keep a link to the TSB's in my sig now so you can't miss them.

I only noticed it on rough roads and parking lot speeds (though that could be my CAI rattling against the hood).
I'm surprised we have not seen any TSB's for the 06 MY. Unless '06 production incorporated all these TSB's, I'm with Imatk - I think 05 TSB's should apply to '06's also. Maybe I'll check to see if I have a rubber bottom spring coil isolator on my '06 or not.

I had the clunking noise over bumps, etc. Brought it in and they "replaced left front sway bar link assembly, re: worn" . After this fix the noise is gone, but some play in the front end remains. Getting tired of these front end issues (had tsb front springs done last spring). Even when its running fine, the front end issues are always in the back of your head when your driving at high speeds and cornering on winding roads.

my god my front right suspension just started doing the same thing! ugh!
Add that to the list to get fixed at the dealer tomorrow
Noisy suspension
ring and pinion whine
slow turn noises TSB
loose button on steering wheel

My car had the popping noise in the front end when I turned the car hard at slow speeds. I brought it into my local Ford service center, informed them about the TSB, and they ordered the necassary parts and spend a day fixing it. I haven't heard the popping noise since, so it looks as if it has been fixed properly.

How curious that the nuts are a one-time use only. I thought you could re-use Nyloc nuts a few times. This certainly could explain how these nuts get loose. Perhaps if new nuts were not on-hand, a little Loc-tite would do the trick.

I think my front sway bar is loose. There's no way I torqued it down to spec when I reinstalled mine after track season. Check this out.

Where can this service DVD be purchased and how much? Is it pretty much just a service manual on DVD?
