I'd vote for turbo myself. Fairly unique on Stangs (compared to superchargers) and they are alot quieter than a supercharger. I think it would make for alot more "drivable" street car since boost doesn't come on until you get the rpm's up a bit.

superchargers r more powerful...........take a look at a kenne bell......turbo's heat up thats why they need intercoolers. yes superchargers heat up too but not like turbos. plus turbos r smaller and go with Japanese craps.

What kind of engine mods do you think have to be done to the 2005 Stang GT, before adding a Super Charger? Or can you just bolt it on and GO!
Everybody I know, has engine mods done before they install it.
im lookin into supercharging my car. BUT 1st!!!! u have to make sure the car is breathing well and change anything restrictive like air filter, and exhaust.

The only thing you will run into on a stock motor is that the rods/pistons/crank are not made to withstand boost on anything other then a 03-04 cobra type motor. The 2v's were notorious for problems with more then 6-7 lbs of boost. Changing a motor to forged internals and a lower compression ratio to allow more boost will cost you 5000-10,000 bucks(not including supercharger/turbo). A 6lb intercooled setup will probably be about all that motor can handle without major work for the long run. That being the case, at low levels of boost, the supercharger is the way to go, since a 6lb turbo would not be worth the trouble.

IF you completely rework the motor with forged internals, a low compression ratio, and all the little tricks like reworking heads and exhaust to allow for more airflow, then a turbo at the higher ends of boost will outdo a supercharger(as far as a streetable car goes). To turn a 3v GT into something that equates a modified 04 cobra motor's hp(say 700 hp or so) would probably cost about $15,000 all said and done.

Its just like the old adage we boaters use, the cheapest way to get a boat to go 10mph faster is to BUY a 10mph faster boat.

Since you are not starting with a 150hp 4 banger, the gains for even small mods can definately get you a serious grin factor without spending too much. You could go with a 6lb intercooled supercharger, throttlebody work, exhaust work to MATCH what you do up top(overlooked ALL THE TIME-you dont just bolt on anything), other energy saving mods(like underdrives and lightweight flywheels and gears-again overlooked ALL THE TIME and the wrong choices like gear ratios being chosen), and the PROPER TUNE which is CRITICAL, I could see getting 150 clean hp out of a 3v without popping the valve covers off or hurting the car pretty easilly, for about $6000 invested.

turbos don't have intercoolers because they heat up

Turbo chargers use intercollers to keep heat down, so do some centrifugal superchargers. A FMIC is a GOOD thing!

intercoolers cool the intake air, which condenses it, which gives you better boost.

my probes max power comes out in the higher RPMs so while im in 2nd or 3rd gear it takes a bit until u feel the power kick in... now I HATE THAT SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i want low end power!!! i hate turbo lag to no end...
SuperCharger ALL THE WAY!

I'm in the mood for gobs of low end torque as well (another PGT owner).

Either way you can make good power with either of them. Someone should slap a Ford Super Cooler on a Turbo, to see what gains that could get
