Heard that they are good for rain, and it does that a lot here in S. Florida. Do anyone know how the Nitto's 05 preform in the rain ? COmming from a set of 555's
I was looking at the conti's before I picked up the hankooks. I would have bought them but they were back ordered with none in site for a couple of weeks. Good tires from I have seen and read about them.

I've been happy with the Pirellis that came on my car new, so just replaced them with a new set.

I loved the F1 GS D3's from Goodyear, but when I changed wheels, I cannot get the size I want.
I pushed them to the limits in dry and rain on on the open track, unbelievable traction. But very high priced, good luck at getting them under 200 a tire.

I got mine at cost few years back and they were 210 a tire. I'm sure they have gone up.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the advice and comments! Really appreciate all of your input.

Now if I could just get the IRS to get a move on processing my refund (yay! I don't owe this year!) I could get my tires. lol oh well. I'll update when I've got some new shoes.

Based on reviews on tirerack and a few sports car forums, I'm going with the conti's when I upgrade to 19's.

I just replaced my Stock BFG's and wanted to go a bit wider
so went with Sumitomo HTR Z II 255/45-18 on all fours
with my factory rims on my 08 GT/CS.
..was a little leery about these..but i was short on cash and decided to try them out.
I gotta say had them for a month and they are much better than the 235 BFG's
cost me 700 bucks installed.. incliding tax here in Nashville..
MY GT/CS is a daily driver and I push her pretty hard during my commute.
for tearing up the interstate and twisty back roads of Tennessee they are more the enough for me..

Just an update. After lots of reading, I decided to go with the NT555's in 255/45/18. A lot of reviews I read seemed to indicate a stiffer sidewall than the Invo or the Hankook Ventus V12, which were ultimately my other two choices. Although I really was on the fence about the Hankooks.

I would have gone with the GT500 takeoffs but I didn't want the rims or the tires, I just loved the idea of moving up to 285's on my rear from 235's. Who wouldn't? lol

In the future I think I'm going with a staggered setup of deep dish bullets in 18x9/10, I guess I'll re-evaluate my tire situation then if needed.

Thanks again for all the helpful comments!

I know their kinda spendy, but I recommend Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. Best all season ultra performance tire I've personally ever driven on. Look up their ratings on Tire Rack. Pricey, yes - and why? Their worth it.

I had the Nitto 555 before and I find that they need to be really hot to grip. In normal driving if you push them they are somewhat slippery.

A good indication of that is, ask 555 owners how they find the resistance to wear, they will tell you that these tire are good for very long which is a sign that they are very hard.

This time I went with Conti Extremecontact DW and I will see. Apparently they are better then Nitto's in the rain and have more grip. Another advantage if you don't have a stagered setup is that the Conti are not directionals so that can be rotated from one side to anoter.

Staggered set ups can be rotated side to side, as long as not directional, fyi.
But to tell you the truth, front and back rotations are more important.

Welp, I picked up my tires and I landed on the Invo's 295x35x20 for the rear, and a set of 555 245'x35x20 in the front. The fronts tires were owed to me from a slight bender where the rim was damaged. So the two front tires were free.

I went with the Invo on the back because after speaking with a few people, a 315 was to big for a 10 rim. I wanted to go bigger than a 275, so I went t the 295 that Nitto made in the INVO.

Glad I did. With the 555's out back, I would break loose in 2nd or 3rd...Now with the Invo I grip. Is it the bigger tire ? Maybe........but I know in wet traction its better as well. And they are a nice ride. So I would truly recommend the Invo over 555's..if I did not get the fronts for free, I would have them on all 4 corners.

I called my local Ford dealer and they had Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's in stock, but they wanted $1260 out the door. Against the $815 for my NT555's, I couldn't justify it. I'm not going to autocross these tires.

I'll take the advice about warming up the tires to heart if I ever want to hit the twisties hard with these on. Anyone have an example of how much warming up I'll need? (i.e. 10 min of driving, take the first few corners easy, etc..)

I've got a similar dilemma... Somewhat anyways.

Do I use my 18x9 rims with staggered 255-285 tires, or do I use the stock 17" bullitts with staggered 235-255? Or... bullitts with 255-50 all around? Or 18s with 255s or 275s all around?

Car drives VERY rarely in snow (as it can hardly get out of my driveway) but it does get quite cold in spring/fall up in Cleveland. I've read hundreds of reviews and like the appearance of the KDW2s, but I'm also looking at new rotors.

Help?

I think if your going to do a staggered set up you should stagger the width of the rims also.

I'd love to... but I already have the rims...

...and I've gotta put money into brakes, tires, and this bloody p0446 error... I wanted to do my 4.30 gears and delete plates this spring. I feel like I had more to spend on this thing when I was still making payments!
