Question Strut brace that clears an plenum cover?

Has anyone gotten a FRPP strut tower brace to fit over a intake plenum cover? I really like the look of the Running Horse cover and would like to use the FRPP STB so I have something in the engine bay that says FRPP, and it comes with the handling performance package that I plan on getting. What about if I removed the grommets off of the side mount points on the cover and let the cover sit right on top of the nuts on the rear and them mount it with the grommets on the top.And or putting some washers in where it mounts on the strut tower?.

Has anybody any problems with the Granatelli 05-06 Dual Bar Street STB not clearing?

A lot of people like the Strang Dev but they are out of stock.

The dual granatelli bar does not clear the ford plenum cover. The single bar does though if you lower the rear of the cover per their instructions.

Strut Brace

Blue Oval Industries on EBAY sells a chrome or black dual Strut Brace that mounts over the stock plenum cover. I installed it on my 07 GT/CS and only had to tweek the mounting by adding a thin washer on the back strut bolts, otherwise it was an easy install, perfect fit and looks very nice.

Interesting. I thought the BOI brace would fit over a Midwest Auto Gear Cover, but not the factory plenum cover....Good to know. I worry about adding washers, as far as the remaining threads for the strut nut.....

Thanks for sharing,
Mike

Strut Brace

I had the same concern prior to mounting the brace but no problem at all by adding a thin washer. There is still plenty of thread remaining on the strut stud for the nut. I added the washer to add just a little more clearance over the plenum cover. Worked out perfect.

Thanks again for this. I really would like to do the factory plenum cover and the chrome Blue Oval Industries strut, so this sounds as if it would work!! I'd love to see some pics of yours if you have em....I currently have the Midwest Plenum cover, and I know it would clear that one....Perhaps I will have to sell the Midwest cover.....Hmmmm........

Thx,
Mike

BMR does an excellent job

I had the dual granatelli, with the midwest covers, my brother had the same with the stock plenum cover....both of us no matter how many washers etc...could get it done. The BMR strut tower works perfectly...easily a quarter inch clearence.
Thanks
Cheers!

I also had the dual Granatelli. It absolutely will not work with the plenum cover. I bought the BMR and it works great. The BMR is flat on the top and would be a great place to mount a FRPP decal.

Does anyone know how much clearance there is between the intake manifold runner and the Granatelli single/dual STB or the BMR and the intake plenum cover?

Do you mean the black one, or the new silver one that's included with the 08-09 Bullitt ?

The silver " Bulllitt " strut brace clears with lots of room to spare. I can email pictures if you would like.
I think there are pictures in this thread.

I had the FRPP handling package on my 07 GT coupe and I could not get the included black FRPP strut brace to fit with the plenum cover.

The Bullitt STB clears my Midwest Plenum

I have the Midwest Plenum on my Bullitt. No problems with clearance between the cover and the brace.

I tried the Steedas and the Granatelli om my 08 CS none fit.Not even close. I asked on another forum if anyone with a 08 had a double bar that cleared and no one had.So iI gave up and put on the color matched covers from MAG.So If you have a 08 with a double chime in.

OEM bullitt brace part# 8R3Z 16A200 A, but stamped Ford Racing. I attached a Ford blue oval that fit which I removed from a key ring fob from Auto Zone. The brace came from Titus -Will Ford delivered for $141.

I have this brace, and it clears the MWAG cover by a ton. I suspect the same would be true with the OEM cover.

Thanks for the input Andy. I buy from Ken at Titus Will all the time for the Mustang and my 03 Explorer. Now I have to call MAG and make sure the Bullitt brace fits with their cover. They say Ford Racing double bar but I want to make sure thats the same as the Bullitt.
