Stroker kit or Kenne Bell 2.6 stage 2

Hey guys, not too familiar with the site but hope you can help. I've been almost positive I want a Kenne Bell 2.6 stage 2 for a long time. I added up exhaust and suspension and necessary mods such as injectors, plugs, the boost a pump for my stock fuel pump and so on. All of it added up plus install and tune was $11378.87. Well I got to looking around and NOW I'm on this new thing about a striker kit. If I decide to build instead of add on I can always get the KB later on. Any suggestions?

The question is what kind of a car u want and start from there. Turbos are better now and u have vortech to look at also. For 11 grand extra that opens up a lot of options.

Good point. Its not my daily driver at all. I'll drive it around town maybe once a week and put it under a tarp in my garage. But when I do drive it I want to be scared s#!%less! Get my point?

Ok now I get it. Lol sounds like a no money issue. So I would start from empty shell of your body choice and go from there. 11 k plus can go a long ways. Matching, blue printing, rims, springs, brakes, inside color/ lay out. Out side color. Also learn how to do somethings yourself. That is the greatest joy I have when driving my car. "this is what I did" feeling. Good luck and keep us posted.

Sure will. Someone referred me to the Brenspeed B326 crate motor they offer. I think I'll find out more about it. Kinda sounds awesome and reliable! Anyone know what a stock transmission will hold HP wise?

When you contact them about the motor they should be able to tell you what kind of trans you should use

The 302 stroker at 9.8 compression with a KB 2.6 is a torque monster.

I would consider the 2.8 liquid cooled version if I were you .

I considered that too but that's alot of money for a throttle body. Haha. How much HP does the B326 stroker motor have coming with it stock? What's the HP rating? That's the only thing keeping me from gettin it!

If you SC your car a forged stroked motor is pretty much a waste of money if it cost any more than a non stroked forged motor. The stroke will add so little compared to what you get from the SC as to be meaningless. Figure an additional 50% when you're done for all the stuff that you're underestimating.

The point of it is to have a safe engine to run boost from a twin screw, not to be stupid and just buy the engine, the engine works a whole lot better with boost than the stock one as well.

Ok if this was me... so take it with a grain of salt.

Buy the blower and put it on and see how you like it.

I'm not sure how you are arriving at the 11k figure, but I'll defer to your research.

As for being safe on your engine. You could go with a built engine, but it may not be necessary depending on your power levels.

A lot of guys think a built motor is a magic bullet. Built motors blow too so "safe" is relative to how much power you're looking to make and how you drive the car.

I ran at around 400 whp for a looong time with the stock engine and trans and clutch.

Once I upped boost shooting for the magic 500 number I fried the clutch and eventually had other problems and the car was no longer fun to drive as it was in the shop more than I drove it.

So it just depends on what power level you're looking for.

$11k upgrade will put you into a used Shelby with a trade in. 550 hp stock. Replace the car before you sink that kind of money into an older GT. Just my recommendation.

Yep. And the Shelby comes with a forged motor capable of 700hp the easy way.

Indeed, a better option (although very costly compared to adding some displacement by stroking it) if OP you become hellbent on a bigger motor would be to increase the bore size (say by installing a set of Darton wet sleeves - if the option exsists) which unshrouds the valves and increases airflow (something that was used to great effect on the current 5.0 coyote/road-runner engines).

Yup and you don't have to lower the redline like you do with a longer stroke.

The 11k is not just the kenne bell. It's the kenne bell, clutch, the boost a pump, 3.73 gears. Injectors, plugs, lower and upper control arms ect... With the price of puttin it all on, plus the Dyno tune. There ya go.
