On the way home from work a M3 pulls along side of me it was the 333hp version ( i asked ) im trying to get him to go from a roll but he wont bite, so her comes a red light , i say to myself try to time the light and NOT to slam the pedal!! WELL light turns green i bog then spin like crazy he gets about 3 cars ahead i start to gain a bit then we shut down.. since i got the 4.10's how do i launch without making a @$$ outta myself lol lol lol HELP!!!!!

 

Traction Control. Otherwise, just feather it a bit in 1st, then go all out in 2nd.

 

Well, you definitely need some control arms to help keep the tires planted. Nitto 555's are pretty sticky. You should be able to dump it at 3k on the street and slowly put the pedal down, maybe over 2-3 seconds as opposed to slamming it. I dunno. I have KDW2's and 4:10's, and as long as I don't drop it from 5k and slam it to the floor, it hooks up just fine.

 

Practice, practice, practice.

 

Traction control?? Sorry no way am I going to let my car cut fuel and spark to get traction... you end up worse off than just letting her spin. The trick is to slip the clutch. get her up to around 1200-1500rpms and ease the clutch out in first (dont do it like grandma... do it quickly and put your foot through the floor as quickly as possible). This is netting me 2.0 60ft times at the track on stocker tires...and we all know how slick the track is running out of the groove. Never feather first and go all out in second... ricers have nothing from a dig and thats where you jump out on them... BMWs are top end cars... if you dont get a jump with your torque you will be in for a hurtin... unless its a POS

you need:
Lower control arms
Relocation brackets (if lowered)
some nittos will work well for the street... if the track is were you want it... MT ET Streets or BFG drag radials work best. Nittos are 3rd in that category.... my opinion of course

 

I've been running the 555s for over a year and they're not worth a sh*t to launch with. Launch at around 2000-2500 RPM and feather the clutch, do not dump it. Depending on your car and the temperature of the street you'll need to play with the RPM. Practice feathering the clutch and the RPMs until you find the spot where you don't bog and you don't spin. Once the tires are planted you can mash the pedal...even in 1st.

 

What's your launch technique and what kind of power are you making that you're spinning 285 width tires so easily? I usually slip the clutch a little at 1700-2000 rpm but all I've got is a CAI+tune and 255's.
Most drag packs i've seen from aftermarket have consisted of rear upper and lower control arms and maybe a panhard rod

 

It really doesn't take much power to spin 285 street tires.

 

No joke. It's pretty easy to light these up if you launch above 3K

 

From a stock clutch standpoint I wouldn't call 3k easy...

 

Practice holding your car on a hill at 1500/2000 and soon you'll get good launches. Now I just gotta figger how to keep from fishtailing outta second

 

I have TOYO proxy 295/30/20's on the rear and I can light them up with the stock drive train if I want. Just dump the clutch at or above 3000 and then choose how much smoke you want to make and how much money you want to spend (on rubber)

 

bfgoodrich KDW's (not KDWS) should help keep you planted, I remember a few months ago some guy posted that he launched at like 4k with all stock parts but the tries, and actually caught traction....leading to a broken rear end....

Definitly a great tire for big traction.
