Stolen picture labeled copyright!
I agree with Altoid. Does any of this use of the pictures really harm anyone? Or is it just a matter of principle? After all, they are pictures of cars, not some ornate artwork. I am not saying it is wrong to be mad about it, but I am just wondering why everyone is getting so bent out of shape.

Close, I can see the planes landing from my building at work.

Tim agrees with me! That's a first... Heh.
I think the funny part about this is how the guy added his own copyright onto the picture.
I think orthoguy may have a case, if he is as upset as some of you are. Afterall, the guy that is doing the eBay auction lied about where he got the pic from. He obviously thinks he has done something wrong... and he went to all the trouble to mirror the pic and then mirror the pony on the grill, as well as blur out reflections of trees on the hood, etc.
Guys dont get me wrong but I do not understand what the huge deal is. If somone used a picture of my car, man, I would be VERY PROUD! I would be showing it off to everyone. I would take it as a compliment rather than an insult. Now I can understand if this was some professional picture taken by FORD or something. But it is a picture that my 12 year daughter could take. Anyways no offense but nothing but just my opinion.
However, on the otherside I dont know if it some kind of rule that goes against the rules and regulations of this website.

Ya know, I would be proud to, IF I was given credit... as in footnotes like "Car belongs to.... work done by...." otherwise its just downright slimey to steal someone's pics, and then promote them as your own.
I would be proud to, but the guy used his picture without asking him and he is using it for his own benefit and then lying about the fact that he took it off this site. I ordered my stripes from a website and the guy asked for pics of my car after I was done with the stripes so he could post it on his site. I said ok, and he has pics of my car on his site. But, he asked. It's just about principle.
And as slimy as it is....It will happen time and time again. Bottom line if you're worried about somebody absconding with your images, don't put them online. Somebody WILL use them in ways you couldn't imagine.
And for all those who think that someone "has a case". Well if you have an endless supply of money to throw at an issue such as this. I guess you may.

Well you guys have very good point. Never thought of it that way. Has anyone contacted this guy to see what he has to say?

Rex, we have explained to the members that the number is not to be posted, and if some member does unknowingly, it normally gets edited and removed before too many people get it.
I hardly think it is the same thing, but, nevertheless, neither are condoned here at TMS.

I hope all of you who are concerned about these pics also have the same attitude and/or concern when it comes to the "dealer only" VOPC phone number. Somehow I doubt it...

However, if you look at the comparision picture that holderca1 put together, the width looks the same.
Hopefully at least one person will purchase some stripes from that guy... or else he may never get those badly-needed Photoshop classes.
Interesting color choices... I wonder if he has Hummer stripes available in "Mustang Yellow" too.
The frequently asked questions on their web site are pretty funny as well.

I am comparing both cars and the only similarity I see is that they are
both black and both have silver stripes. However, the one I shot has 8"
stripes and your friends looks to have 10" stripes. The angle of the shot is
almost exactly the same but mine was photographed from a slightly higher
angle. His car looks much nicer than the one in my auction. I think the 10" stripe
is perfect for that model. Whoever did the graphics did a great job.
Thanks,
Steve
Man, this guy is so far in denial (it's not just a river in Egypt) it's really pretty sad, bordering on delusional. And yes, it is a matter of principal. Why would you want to do business with someone so unscrupulous that not only do they steal and alter a picture then pass it off as their own, but then flattly deny it when they are obviously caught in in the lie? Seems to me that if someone was offering a quality product or service, they would take actual pictures of their work and proudly display it, rather than passing off something that is, at best, a mere representation of what they offer. I still can't ever remember seeing any car dealership in Pensacola that was nothing but a complete yellow background.
