Stock security system sensitivity

I have the stock alarm system installed on my car that came with my premium package. Is there anyway I can adjust the sensitivity of this system?

I looked through the workshop manual and didn't see anything.

I know that you can disable the interior sensors by locking the car with your key. This is helpful when you have your Lab wait for you during errand running.

What sensitivity are you wanting to adjust? There is no shock sensor on our factory alarms. If your trying to make it go off easier when it gets tapped or bumped it wont. You could beat the car with a sledge hammer and the alarm would never go off.

I think what you are looking for is the "lite touch" vs. "full shock" sensor. Follow this link, and start at post number 3, and look at the thumbnail attachments. I have not done this, but understand that it is adjustable.....

If I'm not mistaken those adjustable parameters are for the dealer installed optional alarm and not the factory optional alarm. The factory optional alarm definitely does not have any shock sensor. Only motion sensors for movement inside the vehicle, light flash, door trigers, and a tilt sensor in-case someone tries to tow the vehicle. I think it's ridiculous that the alarm does not have a shock sensor but it doesn't. Also if you have a vert the motion sensors are only active when the top is up.

Im not sure exactly which alarm system I have. I ordered the premium model so I have whatever alarm system came with that. Yes, I want to make the alarm system more sensitive so that if people touch my car at all it goes off. I read through those insturctions in the link and I think I may try that when I get home this weekend.

If it came from the factory that way, there is no shock sensor. If it was installed by the dealership, there may be a shock sensor. Without a shock sensor, like mentioned before...you could bash the thing to bits with a sledgehammer and the alarm wouldn't go off if you didn't break any windows or open any doors/trunk/hood.

You guessed right. If you have the factory alarm, there is no shock sensors installed. Bump it, hit it, smash it...do whatever, alarm won't work for that. I think we've been over that a few times now.

nOObstang has an aftermarket alarm that has shock sensors.
