Steeda's New Carbon Fiber CAI Elbow

Steeda now has a high flow carbon fiber elbow for their CAI. Is anyone running one of these or has anyone seen one? Opinions?

Sure, I've seen one. But I don't believe it's capable of producing 8HP, over the current plastic elbow. And it's definitely not worth the additional $$$ either.

Looks pretty good. just seen a pic on mf. I think the 8hp is the original hp gain over using the stock air inlet, not 8 over the high flow plastic elbow.

The 8hp is over the stock inlet elbow, not against our other plastic one. Either elbow will make up to 8hp over the stock elbow.

BTW, when we went to full production of the plastic elbows when they were first released I got the first unit to hit the shelf, my own personal car made 6 rwhp from the tube upgrade.

Gus do you know if you have the Steeda CAI and then add the high flow elbow, do you then have to update the tune also for the elbow?

If you have an SCT or Diablo tune for the Steeda Cold air a new tune is not required.

If you are running Ford Racing's tune from their Power Pack or you own a Shelby GT we do tell customers to use an SCT or Diablosport tune instead.

No, we saw no reason to do so as we already do Magnachargers with our cold air base and their elbow. It fits both the plastic and aluminum elbow designs Magnuson has used. It is a much harder install on the aluminum versions but it does fit.

A retune is required from Magnuson's calibration if you use a Steeda cold air with it.

Sorry Gus, my bad lol..Anyway, here's my question

Being that I already have the plastic elbow..Would there be any additional benefit in upgrading to the new CF elbow ?

Here's a paragraph taken from the Steeda website. Which describes some of the product details..

This new carbon fiber version not only looks great but allows for colder air induction system temperatures resulting in less heat soak and lower air charge temperatures than competitive brands using metal tubes.

Being as the website doesn't mention anything, concerning their exsisting plastic version..Would it be safe to assume, this new Carbon Fiber version, only applies towards brands using cast aluminum tubes

I would assume so, but I don't know the difference in heat transfer properties between plastic and carbon fiber.

I have the plastic elbow and it's a nice enough piece; I think the CF is sweet, but I'm not showing it, so it's not a necessity.

Not meaning to hijack, but while he's here...

Gus;

I have an issue with transferring the vacume reducer from the stock intake tube to the elbow; it wont fully seat into the Steeda supplied hose. Is this normal? Or should I get a piece of 3/4" heater hose?
