steeda g-trac brace

I just received my steeda g-trac brace the other day and was going to install it today. My question is there was no instructions that came with it I know were it goes but I was wanting to know what to torque it too and which way the nuts washers and bolts were supposed to go?

I called steeda when they sent me mine. They told me "it is obvious".....gotta laugh.

Anyway, the bar goes on the bottom of the frame, and the bolts point up with the washers and nuts on top. Torque it to the factory spec.

Clean the bolts and nuts with a little cleaner and paint them with some black paint after they are installed as they get rusty pretty quick.

I ended up painting them later on when I painted my harmonic ballancer.

Thanks for the replies. I just put it on earlier in the day just as you described. I wonder why they can't put simple instructions with there product. I guess they figure we all know how to install it already.

Ok, for the uninformed... What is a g-force brace?

(ok ok, I know I could look it up, but I am too tired right now. )

What is the factory spec for those of us who dont yet have the shop manuals for the car lol......

2k5GTC the g-trac brace is a chassis stiffener that links the k-memebers together on your front suspension.

129lb/ft. I torqued my homemade brace to 120 using blue loctite. It seems to be more than tight enough.

I've noticed that the parts I've bought for my '06 from them either have clear instruction or none at all. You can find instructions from other vendors and manufactures sometimes that can be substituted for some items. Trust me it wouldn't be difficult to find someone that would install the G-trac brace wrong.

Sooooo... Should I assume my vert already has such a brace? If I have one would the Steeda be better?

no it doesnt come with one stock, but thier are nuts/bolts that will need to be removed and the new provided bolts put in thier place hence the torque spec, I just dont know what it is and dont have any shop manuals yet.

YES!!!! The front end now feels like it is on rails in corners. That might be a bit overdoing it but I love it! Oh and I installed my bolts upside down oops. Now that I think about it I am not sure I did. My bolts were a very large allen wrench bolt with 5 point nuts. Only way to torque was to do it point down.

I doubt the bolts matter which way they go. All 'verts have the same brace for all intents and purposes, so no need to bother. All 07's built after June I believe have it now, coupe or otherwise.

Its attributed to some of the strut tower cap noise issues, which is why the tsb's for the caps haven't been directed at 'verts. Some have started to fail anyway, but they still recommend the old caps as the part for repairs to 'verts instead of the end-all be-all strut tower cap fix with the newest part..I'm going in for the new tower caps and am having them throw the G-trac brace on at the same time, as its cheaper then the factory part anyway and I may as well throw a BMR upper tower brace on while I'm at it.

Kevinb120, what is the new fix on the Strut mounts? just new revised strut mounts?.......and if so how are these mounts compared to the GT500 mounts I'm getting ready to install on my stang!

The GT500 mounts will still clunk and thunk. New part for the TSB 07-18-2 is now a Motorcraft part that is much beefier in the rubber isolator up top, part number is 8R3Z-18183-B (x2). People are throwing out HD Steeda setups and putting these in. They are roughly $50 each depending on what price you negotiate, cost is about $40 and retail is about $60.

You can throw hundreds of dollars at it and it will still thunk and clunk regardless of the strut quality, springs, and other parts. The loose jiggles and noises are all stemming from poor strut tower cap design, not the ball joints, bushings, sway bar links, or tie rods either. The new part supposedly is the end-all be-all. A set of $200 lowering springs or $2000 worth of modifications is all coming down to a $50 part causing all the trouble. They're fixing my caps under warranty but I have to pay the extra bucks to get it re-aligned as I use camber bolts. Stock setups don't have any alignment required for the repair.

Photos of the new mounts are on this monster thread on mustangfourms
http://www.mustangforums.com/m_22973...87/key_/tm.htm

studs are either gold or black on the new part, green on the GT500 (non updated) caps.

EDIT: I'm adding the CHE brace instead of the G-trac so I can add the torque limiters for the transmission
