The heart says "buy now!"...the brain says "Wait!"...too many problems surfacing between gear noises, IUP, patent infringements, supply problems, quality holds, lack of $ incentives...etc...
The battle is raging....I hope the right guy wins!!!! :bang:
What will you do???

I'm waiting. I kind of think of it like this- would I rather have a '99, the first year the last body style was made, and be the first to have one, or would I rather have my 2003 with all of the improvements that were made since '99.
It's tough to see all these new Mustangs running around, but they will just get better with time. I'd be really upset if I plunked down the $$$ for one only to find out a new Mach 1 or Bullitt was about to be released.

Plus I still have my '03 to enjoy until I'm ready to purchase a stable mate for it :-).

If you can wait, then hold out 'til you're ready for one... I didn't want to wait because I figure if something better comes out later, I can always trade up...

It is tough to wait until the '06's come out but I will wait a little longer and see if there are any fixes for the issues that some owners are having with their Stangs. Maybe a late '05 or an '06 for me...Looking at probably Late Jan or Feb until I make up my mind on which year to buy.

The car does come with a warranty, and if there is a significant problem across the line, then Ford will recall it and fix it for free even after the warranty is up. So I wouldn't let that deter you from buying one.

I am concerned with the problems that have been brought up in the forum as well. The last thing I want to be doing with my new car is taking it back to the dealer. With all the testing they have done, they should have found and corrected these issues before the car was released. I would be interested to know what percentage of new owners are experiencing problems.

Well, just so you know, its possible to get recalls years later on a vehicle or even on a vehicle that has been in production for awhile. I think there was a recall on my '94 Stang in 2000 or 2001.

I don't think there is any debating whether or not a bullit or mach 1 is soon to be released, we already know the SVT is a year and a half away. Some of us just want the GT for the simple pleasure of having it to drive and fix up along the way. I'd much rather plunk my cash into fixing up a base model engine then one that's already done up by someone else. If I wanted that, I could have just bought a Lancer Evo or a Subby WRX STI. Everyone gets their own pleasures out of it, if you want to wait for a special edition, then wait... if not, then order. It seems like over the last couple months there has been a lot of these postings. Maybe I'm just being crazy, heck I dunno. Anyhow, if ya got em... enjoy em. I sure won't be ashamed to own an 05 when the SVT comes out in a couple years, or 4, 5, 6 years down the road. Because I bought what I wanted.

I'm not really sure what to do either! The leasse on my truck expires in Sept, but I want one sooner then that!

But, I'd also like to get the 18 inch wheels! They rock!

You don't have to wait for 18" wheels, there are plenty to pick from in the aftermarket.

Don't think there is a Right or Wrong answer to this. Its up to the individual. Personally, this was the right time to get the Mustang. Gone through a number of years (too many to mention) that buying a Mustang was not the "practical" thing to do. If you go to one of the websites which lists recalls and TSB's - the list goes on for years for various vehicles. New models probably do have a higher risk but getting this particular first year model (to me) is a plus. Now, if I don't get it by February lets say and they announce that a Mach I is coming out........

It is definately tempting to wait. The adage, not to buy a car in its first year, is starting to affect my desire to get an 05. I've been keeping up with the issues, and I may decide to not take delivery of the 05 I have on order. I had a significant number of problems out of my 99, even though it wasn't a complete redesign from the previous models. I understand there is no perfect car, but my current Honda is 98% problem free and has only been to the dealer once in almost 3 years. Yes it's a boring car, but I can't afford the inconvenience of bringing a car in for service to correct problems since it would be my daily driver. I really want an 05, but I don't know if it is the wisest decision right now.

Nowadays...
You can have more problems with later years than the first years, as they may try to cut corners or change something...
its never ending.

its like asking someone when the best time to buy a computer is...
the answer is always 'now'
You'll never win.

The best answer on that one is, now, but make sure it can be upgraded.

Naaa it's cheaper to just buy a new one B)

I am waiting until spring. I figure that's enough. That way I get the best of both worlds. I'll be getting a stang that is still new to most people around here because not to many people buy one in the winter. It also gives them time to work out any problems that have been occured. I have had a bunch or first year body styles from ford and haven't had a problem yet. If your thinking about costs then yes it will be better to buy next fall. But the best deals will be on the left over 05's--if there are any that is

your right... just like the nav'y or the expition.... solid vehicles... but even after the "newer versions" there are current problems with the updates which previous "new model owner" are not dealing with.

B) B) I've seem a lot of "perception" problems without factual back-up and some minor issues.

This is a great site with almost 5000 threads and nearly 90000 replies under the 2005 Mustang.
:bang: However (not a flame but an observation), a quandry exists with the site in there is no structure to the posts broken out under 2005 Mustang heading (i.e. Engine,/Drive Train. Interior. Exterior, Electroncs, Tires/Wheels, Exhaust, Speed Mods, Susepnsion, Aftermarket, etc) to catagory the posts Often people posts new threads and with similiar comments. Perceptions and questions get stated/asked over and over again often simply becasue some people don't search before they ask.

 Good point you raised when asking about the % of owners who have actual problems.
So I have to ask: 1) are there a lot of real problems? 2) lot of repetative multiple threads? or 3) is it a perception?

Personally the only problem we have with our 05 is we can't go to the beach and sit without people stopping by and asking about the car every few minutes ..... oh; wiat a minute ... that's part of the fun of owning and one telling everyone about it. Guess that falls in the catagory of "perception" and not real "problem"; all dependent on my mood.
