Stangnet member got an 05 test drive
#1
I was looking through the stangnet forums and found this....apparently he got to drive an 05 mustang gt at the same place as the other negative person who test drove it. He like the other guy also drove the GTO, RX8 and 350Z. He said he thinks that it had 305 hp with 320 lb ft torque (more then originally estimated)

I noticed in the thread that he mentioned that there was no "dead pedal." Does he mean that the pedal that does nothing, as in the 04 with IUP, is not there any more? I would be dissapointed if that was the case. Also does the IUP include the medal wheels at all?

I'm pretty sure the Mustang will continue to get dogged by people just like the guy that wrote that post. You either like it or don't.
There are already a few things I don't like, but you can't make everyone happy. Most items I don't like I am already thinking of ways to fix or change.
The most important is the engine and attitude.

I sat in it and noticed that the instruments were never blocked unlike the tiny ones now How does chrome look cheap? the only "caryover" from 04 is the word mustang.... How come the 05's I sit in seem to be a different car? I'll wait untill someone I can trust knows about cars writes something. The rear will most likely outhandle Irs unless the road is bumpy with no camber changes under load.

I liked it. I even will take into account the cars MSRP, its better then average materials for a car that spans 19-27k and I think its executed nicely. I have to judge the shifter linkage in a prodo but placement is excellent. Could be Steeda Tri-ax #6 I only hate the E-brake. It only took 5 minutes(10 sec actually) to forget about the old car. I immediately went and sat in an 04(not to mention I've lived in several late model ones, what a difference. I think a lot of Ford fans are having trouble with the newer non-"organic" styling that IMHO plagued the 90-2002 Ford lineup-exterior and interior.

Why do people nitpick so much? This guy was upset about the sunvisors not being padded enough!?!
Uh yeah, that's the first thing I look for when buying a new car : sunvisor quality!

Let's wait for the real professionnals to test drive this car, not some unnemployed freak willing to give his body for science...
