Hey,

Wasn't sure were to post this, and didn't know if anyone else had seen it?

Why oh why...FORD HEAR THIS! STOP WASTING MONEY ON STUUUPPPIIIDDD special editions that NO ONE cares about! Why bring out 2 or more dumb special editions when you could bring out 1 good one how about...hmm... A Mach 1 or Boss or Bullett or and I'm surprised no one else has really called this one out yet how about a 281High Performance edition like the old 289 High Performance model! Bump the 300 up to about 345 or 355 so everyone is happy, maybe a better brake option factory short throw shifter? Does anyone else think I'm right? I would LOVE to see a 281 High Performance that could finally beat an LS1 stock for stock... I was hoping there would already be a HP model to match my Dads 1966 289HP but alas...we get a CA special oh! big woop! anyways...that's my rant sorry if it's lame but lets hear it if you agree!

I could almost understand the mark-ups etc when they first came out and they were hard to find, but we are almost 2 years into this now and they have cars piling up on thier lots.

Now it is nothing but pure greed!

I can recall the "High Country Specials" in '66 and '67 but I don't know if there were such a hit on the price.... Not really a bad Idea to move some of the v6 cars but the mark up is ridiculous!!!

It didn't dawn on me until I took these pictures today at Jordan Ford in San Antonio, that the Stampede Edition is a Ford (rather than dealer) package.

See the "Stampede Edition" line on the window sticker.

AFBLUE,

I think it is a regional Ford-Dealer thing, more dealer than FoMoCo...but I could be wrong...however, that is what the old memory of mine is telling me.

Anyone else out there have the facts?

Hmm. Not sure. I guess the question is where are the window strickers applied. At the factory or are new ones put on at the dealership and the original is removed?

Old topic I know but I thought I'd answer this question...

There were no dealer stickers whatsoever, only the original factory one. In your image of the sticker note that it shows "4 Passenger Specialty" whereas a normal Pony Package V6 would say "4 Passenger Sport". This is in fact a Regional Special. Another was done in California - same car, same package, different badging - in a release of #400 called the "California Limited Edition". Some of these have been found as with SCS (Southern California Special) rear badges, no interior badges, and window stickers indicating "California Limited Edition". We are speculating that the dealerships re-marketing the cars or Ford had more than the 400... We're not sure... I have no documentation on the SDS (San Diego Special) other than it exists. Until I see a window sticker I can't tell you if it is the same car. There was a brochure released for the California Limited Edition but not the Stampede Edition. We do have the dealer order sheet indicating colors, trim, and etc.
We have been trying to locate all of these cars as well as any other regional special created since 2005. - http://StampedeMustangRegistry.com. I'm sure that if they created two in 2006 that there were more. To me, IMHO, it just makes sense that Ford returned to the Regional Specials to continue to keep everyone interested in these cars.

Smile And Thanks!

And thanks for helping us to locate these two... Specifically the one with the dash plaque visible. We'll add that to the registry. Hopefully we'll find the owner some day.

Here is a Stampede Edition window sticker if anyone cares. Looks like a factory option to me.

Just traded it in yesterday. Hope it wasn't a mistake. That is why I was asking about it.
