I went to Springfield, Illinois today (9-4-04), for the Mustang Club of America's Prairie Roundup, just because they had an '05 there. (Not that I didn't just love seeing the 400 or so other 'stangs there.)
It has been discussed how Ford has put a filler piece in the front valance to reduce air flow. I think it looks kinda cheap, and wonder how it would effect things if it was removed? Whadya think?
They only had the one red GT that we've all studied here. I was a little disappointed because I felt I already knew the car inside and out. The car was a little beat up and worn looking, but still awesome! We couldn't start it up, and the guy who brought it couldn't even answer any questions. When I asked where the mysterious 9th speaker was, he went to inquire inside the Ford trailer. His answer: "You'll never be able to tell how many speakers there are by listening." Not much help.

I think the black insert is an old version... the production version will have a honeycomb pattern AFAIK... but I really don't like the 'cheap' approach of filling half of the combs to solve any airflow problem instead of doing it "further inside" the engine bay.

I'm guessing the 9th speaker will be a small hidden center channel. Not like I'll ever find out, I'd rather put in an aftermarket system for the same amount of money... *shrug*

The VIN number on the red car was 0046 which is an early car.
The red car had the dark charcoal cloth interior. Haven't seen this before. In a related note, I prefer cloth over leather, but the dark charcoal leather gives a more premium look to the interior compared to the dark charcoal cloth.
