Depending on size and shape i.e. bigger more effective at slow speed about 60 or so to keep the rear planted in corners. But normal size really only adds a little until 120 or so.

You have to be going pretty fast for the spoiler to come into play. I guess these guys didn't think they needed one.

I think they look better without.

I could take the spolier or leave it. I think without the spoiler the eye is pulled more toward the quarter window and the fastback shape in the side profile. Both of which are features I like.

To me spoiler delete is like the strong silent type or speaking softly and carrying a big stick. The opposite of rice.

I'm keeping mine. I've always liked spoilers which were designed to keep the car's lines and design flowing.

The current spoiler has come great edges and lines. Visually, the curving rear end is continued to the side of the spoiler. Same with the rear. There are some cool groves under the spoiler and a recessed part on top that really looks neat.

Again, its personal preferance but I like it.

When I saw the two 05's yesterday for the first time in person I though the spoiler looked better than in the pictures. It's by far nicer than the SN-95 spoiler. However, I am still sticking without it.

1- Rebel against the ricers and their ridiculous nonfunctional 747 wings.

2- I loved the look of the 2002 Bullitt edition and I think it looks even cleaner on the 2005 body style.

3- It is a pain to clean the decklid on my '98 stang. Grime always builds up where the spoiler attaches to the trunk and it's tough to get it out.

4- The pics of that black spoiler-less GT on this forum looks outstanding.

Cheers!

I would much prefer the ducktail OR a spoiler similar to what is on the '03/'04 Cobras.

But, I must admit the clean, spoiler-less look is also very beautiful!

My thoughts exactly!
Though I would love to get a Ducktail on my 05!
I just hope the aftermarket will make the ducktail with the same bolt pattern of the stock "wing"... that would make things cheaper and easier for those of us who have it.

I am foing with the spoiler for sure. I love the look. To me it just makes the car, it adds alittle flavor. True it may be for apperances only but hey. Also as someone posted above: without the spoiler the rear looks naked. (Just my opinion)

Also, someone else posted above about everycar having a spoiler these days & therefore it's no longer unique. Well, with 25,000 pre-ordered mustangs chances are our cars are not going to be all that unique either. I mean don't get me wrong, I love Mustangs, it's all I have driven. But with soo many of them now on the road they're not as unique as they once were.

So, even though you were rigth about the spoiler no longer being unique, I, personally, was not going for unique when I ordered my car. I will make it unique later on down the straigtaway.

Don't mean to offend, again, just my opinion.

BTW: What does the ducktail that ppl are talking about look like? And why do we call other sport cars (Honda's, etc) ricers?

Cheers mates.

Heh, ricers...

Seeing the spoiler delete on that black 05 definitely made me rethink my order, but i think i'll stick with it.

Ricers are people that not only Japanese Cars (they burn rice instead of gas), but I've always thought it is what they do to the cars. I wouldn't call a stock RX8 or 350Z a ricer. It is when they put the big wings, spoilers, airdams, and exhaust cans (that sound like farting lawnmowers) on a non-sports car (and nothing else) that you really earn that moniker. My attitude is anyone that thinks front wheel drive is a sportscar also qualifies.

For me, you can rice up an American car too. Get a V6, make no engine or performance improvements (suspensions/brakes), then start bolting on big wings and gawdy body-mods, flashy mods, and make a poser car. Not that V6's aren't sporty, it's more a balance thing.

Just looking at how (almost) everyone agrees on the car's great looks regardless of spoiler/no spoiler, it's a tribute to the design team.

I'm really on the fence on this one. I like the spoiler, but seeing as it's purely cosmetic, I'd probably go without when the day comes. And no, I'm not a fan of fake scoops, either. The Ricers took away all the fun in adding dead weight to the body.

I'm definitely in the NO category. Spoilers have long ago ceased being a truly unique styling element. Rather, they have become a cheap, trite and way overused stylistic crutch to tart up underlying mediocre design. Now that just about every other cheap grocery getter has one tacked on to their butts, the generic looking cod-piece on the '05 signifies wanna-be bad boy cliche and self-conscious conformity more than anything else. But it does add road hugging deadweight and its added drag will help you slow down faster.

Keep my tail mean, lean and clean.

I like it best without a spoiler. However, you will most likely get the same reasons from everyone on each opinion:

Those who like it WITH - "It looks naked without a spoiler, and it adds a little something extra."

Those who like it WITHOUT - "It looks cleaner without the spoiler, and a spoiler only takes away from the lines of the car."
