spill inside the car

Didnt know where to put this but....

i was driving to work this morning with a 32oz nalgene bottle of water in my lunch bag. The lid was loose due to my not checking the tightness of the lid after my sister filled it. Most of the water leaked out between the contents of the bag, and the floor of my car. A decent amount of the water (i have no idea percentages or anything, lets say half of the water ended up between the lunch and the inside of the plastic shopping bag i normally carry my lunch in. the rest is in the passenger floor of my car.

I need to know what exactly runs through that part of the car, wire harnesses and the like. Because i dont get to leave work till 5:00pm so cant get a wet dry vac, or my tools on the car till at least then. please any help would be appreciated.

how much water was it though. I know its not like my car is flooded, but i miean it might have been a litle over 16 fluid ounces of water.

thank you for the vote of confidence though. I couldnt imagine they would have a major wire loom with a few connectors in the bottom of the floor pan

Soak it with paper towels as much as possible. You'll be alright.

It will be fine, just think of what would happen if a convertible top got left down and it rained in there. Not like that has never happened before. If the car shorted out caught on fire and burnt to a crisp due to a little water in the floor pan, we would be hearing about it by now.

good point man, thanks.

yeah i was kinda worried, not too freaked out. but i dont know i get a little frustrated. there was a few other junky things that happened this mirning, got accorn bombed while sitting in traffic while going through a detour because of an accident that downed some power lines. all that aftre leaving like a couple minutes late for work. just a little rant i guess.

thanks for the responses guys. i'll just vacuum it with the good ole wet dry when i get home from work tonight

Be glad is it was just water and not coffee or soda. At least water is clear and doen't turn into to a sticky brown mess...

very true.
i only have two major rules in my car.

no coffee
no smoking.

other than that i dont mind too much but i prefer if someone is bringing a drin into the car that it be of a bottle type so a tight cap is useable

You also might want to run the heater for awhile to help dry it out unless it is still warm there this time of year (our Indian Summer is over--cool and rainy here in NorCal). This will help prevent mold or mildew from occurring in the carpet or padding/insulation underneath.

If you're smoking in my car, you better be on fire.

Good idea; another suggestion is while you have the heater turned up, put it on Max A/C. The heat will help evaporate the water and the air conditioning will remove the moisture from the air inside the car...

yeah, nothing is smelling,

i was just trying to find out if there was any electrical gizmos in that area of the car, so that i wouldnt have to leave work early to go dry the car out, or ri[p the interior apart. since everyone just kinda said "just dry it out a little" i left the windows open in the parking lot for the rest of the day, blotted it out with some paper towels, and just kinda went with it. so the car is fine.

thanks for all the feedback.
