Special Order Colors

Does anyone know (any dealership folks) if it is possible to special order different paints on the Mustang? For instance, if I wanted to get a color from the Edge or Flex lines, would it be possible to do so?
TIA

Doubt it .... Heck ... I'd love to be able to order a Grabber Orange Bullitt!

In other words when the Model A was phased out.

I'm sorry, but it had to be posted.

Sad to say, its not even a thought anymore. Heck, when I ordered my car, I went as far as emailing the Mustang Brand Manager at the time (Jim Owens), as I have his email address at work, and asked him if I could somehow paint my car Highland Green. I even went as far as to include my order number, my dealer code, and all my options. He replied (which was pretty cool, and joked, that he wish he could but could do it). My thought to do a Bullitt tribute 2 years ago was squashed that day. No matter as I LOVE the way my car is, and the exposure I have gotten with it I wouldn't trade for any other color.

You could just get it painted somewhere else and not deal with the hassle of going through Ford?

The reason you want to get it done from the factory is... you want it done from the factory. It's done OEM, vs taking everything off to do it right vs taping everything off and half-behind-partsing it.

That, and 4 figures of $$$$.

I talked to the co-owner of a Ford place, who runs it as well, so it's not just an investment. He said that if you got 10 or so people to sign in for it and pay a premium, it could be done as a fleet option. Kinda like Mary Kay or Police cars are done.

So all that had to happen is you needed to make special run of 10 or so Bullitt homages. You'd keep one, and sell the rest. Easy.

Now, this was 2-3 years ago, so times may have changed... I bet that Ford'd do it now easy if you rounded up 10 people, as money's money... Wonder how much it'd be.

Oh, one last caveat. They have to all be delivered to the same place. It's a fleet purchase, after all. You can have the dealer re-ship them at another fee to wherever you wanted afterwards, of course.

You could always buy a body in white and just start from scratch.

When we sold fleet locally (police depts.) it was painted locally because even within the same district or dept. the paint jobs would vary depending on usage.
May Kay does have a relationship with GM that is very unusual.
They buy closer to 7000 cars a year, not 10.
A thousand of which are Caddys.

Offer them like an extra 10K, i'm sure they will go for it Or just ask them to not paint it and have them give you a primered car and have it custom painted?

I wish it worked that way too.
If it worked that way, every rich b@$tard would order a different color.
Primer only? You would have to dis-assemble the car to do it right and put it back together.
Might just as well order close color and paint over it.
