Something that got me mad
I went to a car show on Sat. night at the Whiskey Cafe in Carlstadt NJ, (at least I think its there it might be Rutherford). Anyway I parked my car next to a black Z-28. Classic photo op. As the night went on a guy came up to me and said he was looking for an 05 GT exactlly like mine Black on Black 5-spd but couldn't find any so he bought a GTO :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: come on Ford you gotta build them faster......
Anyway he drove it over and parked next to me and that made for a huge crowd. A 05 Stang, 05 GTO and a 03 I think Z-28 all Black next to each other.

That's cool, Nick. Next time bring a camera so you can take advantage of those photo ops!
I love those impromptu cruise meets; a lot of friendly folks that love cars have the time of their lives showing and discussing their rides. It's even better if the old school guys and gals come over and check out the new breed. Both old and new have a lot to offer.
Btw, you're absolutely right about Ford dropping the ball. It's a shame that some people had fewer viable choices due to production delays on Ford's part. I hope they're aware of this potential marketshare loss. :notnice:

Whiskey Cafe is in Lyndhurst, NJ. They have a cruise night of EDIT: 300-400 cars every Saturday night from 5pm till ?. I've been there a bunch of times with my '35 Chevy. I was going to go this past Saturday but it rained.
Nick, did you go this past weekend? Did the rain hold off enough to keep the event going?
Maybe a TMS meet at Whiskey one Saturday night? I'll bring my '05 not my '35 lol
Sorry :bang: I edited this to show the correct number of cars that show up, not 1000 but about 300-400. Here's the link! American Cruisers' Whiskey Cafe Cruise Night

Well, if Ford knew how popular the Mustang was going to be, you can bet they would have made a LOT more. The fact is, they just had no idea. It's a gamble coming out with a new car with retro styling like this, you just don't know what the public reaction will be. Sure they conduct focus groups, but when it comes down to it, who is actually going to put up the money? And how many buyers will there be? Look at Pontiac, they cranked out the GTOs expecting to sell a bunch and now they're sitting on a HUGE stockpile of them. You just never know what the public perception will be. I really hope that the popularity of the Mustang spurs the other American manufacturers to go retro on the musclecar classics (Camaro, Firebird, restyled GTO, or anyone up for a retro 442? GSX?) Man, if they do, we could be in for some very exciting times ahead!

But this is where the argument lies. The 05 stang was the most antisipated car of the 2005 Model year plus they saw they couldn't give the 04's away because everyone wanted and 05'.
The truth is I'm kinda glad that they didn't build more cause I might have a more wanted classic in 25 years rather than an 06 which everyone who ordered an 05 recently will get.

Hmmm, they are going to build ~190,000 2005 Mustangs. I don't see any problems with the amount they are building.

Problem is how many GT's???

I went to a concert one time a few years ago and I pulled into the parking lot next to a Z-28. As I walked away from my GT, I noticed that there was smoke coming from underneath the hood of the Camaro. I told the parking lot attendent about the problem and asked to move because I didn't want my pony to melt when that Chevy burst into flames. I never did find out what happened. I imagine the Camaro is probably in the junk yard by now one way or another.
