It truly is a shame that the 18's won't be available at '05.

Both 17's are great looking wheels.

I wonder if Ford is willing to give '05 owners a discount on getting 18" wheels when they become available.

I believe '03 Cobra owners had some kind of offer like that when the chromed 17's were not available initially. (someone please confirm/explain)

Eh...maybe. But then the waiting issue presents itself. I really want to go though a summer with nice shoes. I wanted to wait till the spring to avoid a winter, get more outta my probe, get a better deal, and most of all, be able to put the nice rims on and have it "the way I want" for the summer.

Darn.

I must admit, this is starting to bother me more and more. The reason being that I am really starting to love those 18's.

Is there much of a difference between the titanium silver and the satin silver?

titanium is darker and way nicer

but dan, you're right, 18s fit a lot better on this car. I guess waiting for MY06 (titanium + 18s) is worth it

Dan,

once again, I totally agree with you.. its not like it is anything you can't change by loosening a few lug nuts.

I like the 17's but I really want the 18's but I am not willing to wait for another year (waiting 2 years is long enough).

So we are both in the same boat.... what can you do, drive on 17's for a few months, sell them and get the 18's when they come out....

Exactly. That's the only option other than going to the aftermarket. But with the factory 18's looking that good, I'm not sure its worth spending a whole bunch of money on aftermarket rims which don't look much better.

What's bothering me isn't that I'm going to wait......no way that's happening....just that it'll be a summer without the exact car you've been waiting for. 17's are nice, don't get me wrong, just that the wait never seems to end.

It would have been perfect if you had the new stang with wide tires and 18's to drive though the spring/summer. :bang:

I also don't understand why Ford can't offer the 18's in advance through Ford Racing. The problem according to Hau Thai-Tang was that AAI couldn't accomodate them. But why can't we order them separately?

Good point Dan,

That would be a great way to make all of us who want the 18's happy.

Only glitch in my logic is that Ford might want the 18's to be a selling feature for the 06's so allowing people to buy them early takes away from that.

Also, excuse the fact that I've been ranting about the 18's quite a bit in recent days. Its just that the months are passing and soon I'll FINALLY have the car I've been waiting for for years............only to realize that even when I get it, I'll have to buy pieces of it later. :bang:

Dan, I am sure you remember from that tech session last weekend, Hau himself said the he really wanted the 18's to be available in '05. WIth that in mind, I would hope he and Ford would try and work something out for us hardcore guys to get the wheels we want.

I would probably get kicked out of AAI by the UAW if I showed up with a floor jack and an impact gun though.

Now that's one road trip I'd be up for.....even if we did have to tangle with AAI security.

I'd be like the guy in the VW commercial who's sitting in his car on the assembly line and he honks the horn. I can relate.

Slightly OT, if I were Ford doing a spring upgrade package (with no power enhancements), I'd offer stripes with the titanium silver and 18's.

If the spring package offers stripes and the stock 17's, I think something is wrong. Plus, if you are going to offer stripes....what colour would you choose? Um.....maybe the colour of the car they were originally on? No?

I really don't like those wheels at all. They are almost identical to the wheels Ford uses on the explorer. I would much rather they just offere the current premium wheels in a bigger size a la the concept.

you wouldn't really be able to choose a lighter shade for the stripes. My best guess would be a color similar to the satin was used for the stripes on the titanium...

Can you post a side by side pic of the GT with 17in and 18in wheels, so I can see the difference. Either I'm really blind or all the pics seem to be with the 18's on them. Thanks
