So you know you've found the one when...

So I was driving home from a buddy's house and my girlfriend was following me in her car. When we finally got home she says to me: "I don't think you realize how loud and awesome your car sounds when you drive past or from behind".

I responded, "It can't be that loud, I just Boom tubes and an intake"

She said "How about we go down the street (Our apartment is on a rather deserted road) and you stand on the side walk and I'll rip it up and down the street a few times".

I say "OK"

Now, I don't want to hear "WHAT? you let your girl drive?" from the peanut gallery. She manhandled the stang almost like I do.

I get out, she gets in and dumps the clutch and punches it.

WOW. It was awesome seeing my car in action. I was actually quite surprised how well she handled it. I felt the exhaust vibrations in my chest and gut. It was sweet.

She flipped a U turn and came back down. I heard the intake barking as she went from first to second to third.

All I can say is that Videos don't do these cars any justice. I think everyone should have the opportunity to see their beauty (or beauties ) in action in real life.

***insert cheap plug for boom tubes here***

The Boom Tubes are loud. I couldn't stand my Pypes Violators (with stock cats and stock H pipes) after 6 months. I'm running the full stock exhaust and won't ever change the exhaust in the future.

I agree. There's something almost voyeuristic about watching Awesome run amok without me in the driver's seat. I smile, even though someone else has my baby, and I should worry about it, it's nifty to see and hear her from the outside.

Oh, and btw... lucky man.

I noticed a new trend where women are into motorcycles, but they just ride them around and have no clue about working on them. Apparently it is the newest fad or fashion trend or something, because when I ask them slightly more detailed information they fail the test.

i've tried several times to get my wife to do this, she doesn't manhandle the car well. i'm gonna have to look outside for a proper manhandling.

Great story. Don't let this one go. I love my wife but she can't even drive a stick and has no interest in learning.

Same here. My wife loves riding in the car, and loves cars, but can barely drive a stick and has no interest in getting better. I have offered many many times to let her drive the 'Stang, but she says it is too powerful. She wants me to get a racecar, a real one like 8-10 second beast, yet she won't even drive a (mostly) stock Mustang GT. Strange.

About the only time I get to see mine in action is if somebody has a video camera. My wife like these others can't drive it very well but has on a road trip and really is afraid to hurt the car even when I tell her it'll be an opportunity to upgrade whatever she breaks However she loves the car and going to drives. Sounds like you have a keeper

Did you teach your girlfriend how to drive manual? My boyfriend taught me, in his 10 second race car. There were some interesting stalls in that learning time. From the female perspective, its a good thing if you have that same interest because being involved with not only a car guy, but a guy that is a shop manager, you have to understand why they do what they do and why they're at the shop till 3am sometimes. Its a whole lot of fun though.

I've been meaning to get him in the purple people eater and have him do some passes for me so I can hear it from the outside. I've been told my Flowmasters opened up and now I want to hear them like other people do.

LOL. My girl is from South America and when I first met her in our dorms she had just moved here and was surprised that not many people in the states knew how to drive stick.

She had me at that statement.

Our first date was test driving a G35 and GTO.

My wife and I both learned how to drive on manual transmission cars, and we both prefer shifting for ourselves, that's why all five of our cars have manual transmissions. My wife doesn't drive the Mustangs much, just occasionally to work when the guys she works with are asking about them, she'll drive one to work and show it off a little.

I do get the chance to see my Mustangs in action from time to time though, from outside the car. I typically have a friend co-drive with me when I autocross, so I get to see my car running through the cones without me in it. It took a little bit to get used to, especially since my co-drivers are usually a little more agressive than I am.

Women that drive motorcycles and cars with manual transmissions are dime a dozen.

I've been told this SO MANY TIMES by all my friends in the car clubs who follow me to shows. But like others, I have NEVER heard my car drive away at WOT! My dad drove my car to get it inspected on day and he just drove away normally. But even that time it sounded good. I REALLY would love for someone to drive my car past me 1 time at WOT so I can fully comprehend how my longtubes and Stingers sound.

Oh, and GONE, I too know "when you found the one". I knew it when I saw my girlfriend for the 1st time in her 2007 Grabber Orange GT/CS (second time we met, but 1st time in 2 years, as the 1st time was in passing). She's smart, super, wonderful, hot, 6-foot, blonde, size 2, and AMAZING. And she drives a manual to boot!! I LOVE HER!!! I found my soul-mate!!

Well, the co-ed dorms of UNLV Linked my girl and I up four years ago and I haven't look back since.

Shes smart, hot, has goals, has morals, likes beer and wings, drives manual, and would back me up in any situation.

Yep that's marriage material right there.
