So what do you all think my chances of picking of a GT off the Lot in late Oct are???

I'm trying to plan my vacation for the 3rd or 4th week in Oct and get my F150 SuperCrew sold, so I can get a 05 on my vacation...

Am I just dreaming...

Peace

I depends on how far you are willing to drive and what price you want to pay. www.dealerconnection.com would tell you.

Well considering I have heard that it takes about 3 weeks after you receive a VIN before you get your car I doubt you will get one in October. I still have yet to get a VIN and I ordered one back in May.

He said off a lot. They will definetly be on lots then, the only problem is getting one that has the options you want, without someone buying it first.

I was having the same dilemma. I ended up ordering one yesterday, even though I know it will be a good 8-10 weeks before I see it. I figured it was better than trying to cherry pick one off a lot somewhere within driving distance, hoping I found one close to what I wanted, and maybe having to settle on it, then having to try and work a deal on such a hot car.

This way, even though I am waiting, I am getting exactly what I want, from the dealer right around the corner, at x-plan.

I think thats optimistic The hub-ub is getting pretty nuts around the dealer with constant calls and customers stopping in now. Now about 95% of customers no matter what they are buying are asking 'wheres the new Mustang, when is it coming out?'.

Also, you will be paying over the odds for a car that maybe isn't even to the spec you want! Supply and demand.......if the latter is greater than the former, expect to pay more $$$

I find this odd. Some people who ordered way back in May, June, July etc have not received a VIN? I ordered on 9/11, got my VIN on the 23rd. I spoke with my dealer last night and he said that I am scheduled. Doesn't sound right.
Check with you dealer.

Not to sound pessimistic, but if people are not getting there VINs that ordered in May thru July, I am not sure if recent orders will come as quick as 8-10 weeks.

Maybe so. Maybe the older orders are competing with the inital build up for the dealers lots.

If you really want one ASAP, you could call around to the dealers find one they have ordered for stock that will be coming in soon. If it is close to what you want then offer to buy it now or at least put a deposit on it. Obviously make sure you get the agreement in writing.

Well from everything I have read, it appears the people who dont have VIN's from orders back in May/June are the exception and not the rule. Obviously I wont know till it actually happens, but I knew when I ordered it wasn't gonna be a quick thing B)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but VIN are not issued until the order is invoiced by ford to the dealer, meaning that the car is taken out of the dealer's allocation. A dealer could have taken MANY orders, but they can only be filled and given VINS once they are allocated enough cars. Someone please correct or clarify this if need be.

So Kevin - have you seen this kind of groundswell response before? Ever?

Or are we looking at a smaller-scale repeat of 1964-65?

ace0215, I think you are right. My dealer is just a small town dealer and a only a year or two old as far as selling Fords. They didn't have good allocation at all. They placed two orders for Mustangs into the system before July and it took until 2 days ago to finally get the second one accepted by Ford and given a VIN. So I suppose if you could find a larger dealer who by some miracle hadn't placed orders yet, you might be able to get a car quicker than someone like me who ordered at a very small dealer.

Im the happiest person alive, I got so lucky, im sorry if I offend anyone. My father knows the owner of the local dealer, and that dealer had placed an order for 4 mustang GT. Well, one of the people who originally placed the order, was in a car wreck, and well....he had to cancel for finance reasons. So, the Dealer called my dad, and let him know that he had a Black Gt Premium with the IUP, and dark charcoal. Owner agreed to give it to my dad for 400 over invoice.
