Hey guys, I am having a slight whining while going from 52-45 mph while just coasting. I thought it might be the auto transmission, so i took it out of gear, still there. If you have your foot on the pedal, it goes away. As well, with cruise control on at every mph in between as long as the car is not coasting, it goes away. I tried a search for this topic but couldn't find it. All I want to know is if any other owners have had this, and did they take the car in? What did they tell you?

Dave - I've noticed it too, only once in awhile, same circumstances as you with foot off the gas, coasting, only low speed. I'm having a hard time placing where it's coming from but for some reason I thought it might be an exhaust noise - not mechanical - maybe backpressure causing some sort of particular resonance in the pipes that sounds like a whine?????? Just a thought.

No dealer trips planned yet, too few miles on her still.

this sounds like the 2 link system like its right underneath me. I don't thing its exhaust because I believe it would change in tone or change depending on rpms but it doesn't.
Thank you for your thoughts though!

B) We also have a slight gear whine when slowing from about 60 down to 40 mph. Asked the delaer to check the rear end backlash .... It was off and causing early gear wear; they've ordered and are going to replace the rear end. Won't cause any short term issue but long term ...... At least get your dealer to look it over. There have been several posts on a limited number of rear end issues; guess more related to earlier vin's; ours is 00643

Thank you so much woody, will check it out! it does sound like a gear issue to be honest with you.
Thanks again,
Dave
