Ok, I wanted to open up a new board to see if it's worth taking my shaker 500 to get replaced. See, you may have read in my other thread the whinning noise and "bad disc" spit out problems I've had just like so many of you too. The thing is, I checked, and I have a revision "B" shaker. So, even though it's a B I still have problems. If I take it to replace it, won't they just add another B? How many of you guys that had the B to begin with had problems, and how many of them went away after replacing it?

I'm not talking from an A to B replace, but rather from B to whatever it is they put in as replacement.

How can you determine what shaker revision you have?

personally your mustang has a problem and it is still under warranty. So take it in and tell them to fix it, Its not going to cost you anything right? If it happens again, guess what, take it back

I had the Shaker "A" replaced with the "B" version. It works better but still has some issues. It sometimes will do the skipping and bad disc thing, but to a lot less extent than the "A" version did. I would like to switch to an aftermarket stereo but hate to lose the factory dash look.

With the unit on and set to radio, press and hold the 3 and 6 buttons. The unit will do a self test and display a string of letters and numbers. Check the last letter in that string.

Thanks, I will try that in a few minutes when I go out.

How did you learn to interface with the system so well? I just found the presets yesterday, after having it for 3 weeks!

The last letter in my string is a "J" (jay)

I wonder if that corresponds to a revision A or B?
