Single Lug Wheels

Alot of race cars (although nascar doesn't), use a single nut (and in the old days spinners, or knock offs) use a single large nut to mount the wheel. Rascals take a hella'lot of torque to cinch down to. IIRC the torque specs for the F40 and Testerossa were like 400 or so foot pounds for the single nut wheels. Mainly its used to facilitate quick wheel removal.
Very few modern cars use a single nut to secure the wheels to the hub. I suppose the only real cars to use that system are cars meant to be factory racers or there abouts.
Interesting note, the BB Cobras of yesteryear had to have pins installed on the wheel hub to prevent the hub from spinning in thw wheel because of the torque produced by the 427 and 428 powered cars.

What's wrong with this? Lots of classics had shiny spoke wheels and numberous classic motorcycles do as well. Sure they don't belong on EVERYTHING! However, they do tend to look good when used right and it looks good on that Z4.
*EDIT, and not just cars from the 30's had em, a lot of classic English Roadsters, XK140, XKE, Austin Healy MK 3000, and so on had them too.
