Here we go:
I bought a restored car about 10 months ago and I basically can't get a title. The dealership had been giving me the run-around and I decided to get a lawyer to help me out. Well, looks like it'll be atleast 6 months to a year before anything get's settled. The question is: Should I order a new Mustang or wait to see what happens? I do need a car that's TAGGED, to get here and there. I don't really know if I want to spend another 30k on a car. Obviously, I do have other choices and I know the smart thing to do would be getting new low priced, high milage car... I just prefer the classic look rather then the newer bubble look.. You guys know what I'm talking about...? I just wouldn't feel safe in one. I love my car, but I just can't drive it... I figured if I would get another car it would have to be a Mustang... I've never owned a Mustang before but it's a really nice looking car and if I have to get a newer car, that's all I'm looking at... Anyways, ideas and comments would be a huge help. Thanks for talking the time to read ~ Peace, Love, and Rock n' Roll

If you have the extra money lying around and don't have any other use for it, go ahead.
Otherwise, I'd say get a $1000-$2000 dollar car and wait. (You included in your title "Maybe I shouldn't..." which indicates reservations about it. If you have reservations, I'd say hold on. 30k is a lot of money to spend if not sure. Except if you have the money lying around and don't have a use for it, as I meantioned earlier.)

NEVER give money to anyone if they do not have a clear title to pass on to you. In fact in IL we can not by law sell a car that we do not have title on.

Save yourself 30 grand and buy a $1000 beater until you get the title to your Chevelle. You need at least 2 cars....one for the daily commute, the other for getting ice cream on a nice sunny day.

Yeah, that's a good idea... There's a GTO over here around $5,000. It's not THAT bad looking I guess... If you don't mine yellow -_-
I just wish I would of THOUGHT before I bought the Chevelle. I took one look, a test drive, and then paid in cash.
I love the car... Drives real smooth and has a real nice growl.. There's just no title for the car. I actually passed up a '69 Mustang for it.. That one probably had a title... Keep in mind the "probably". The dealership should be shut down though. I don't want that happening to anyone else.
I still don't know though... I have the money.. Eventually, I either want my title for my car or a refund. Then buy another Chevelle for cheaper and get a Mustang to drive everyday.

Thank your lucky stars that this is a delaership and not private seller. You can go after a dealership much easier. It's tough to run and hide when you're a business.

They can't produce the title - go after them. NOW. Every day you wait will reduce your chances of winning in court and lower your punitive damage assesment. Go for it, man!

What year did they start titles? My 65 never had one. They weren't issued back then. All I needed for a tag was the bill of sale.

Sorry took so long to respond... Working outside too and let's not forget my obsession with guitars... Anyways, the DMV is saying the VIN is invalid and a copy of the title was sent to me BUT it was voided. So, I have a lawyer now.. The process is SO slow... I know, I know... Patience is a virtue. Oh yeah, I decided to check out the GTO... Well, first thing I noticed was the bumper was bent and then I proceeded to check out the interior... The dash was cracked... I'm leaning towards a Mustang more and more... I just hate not driving my Chevelle...
