Hey guys,

Passenger door sub blew.
What have you guys been replacing your Shaker500 subs with?
Any tips/tricks I should know to the install?

Thanks!

What makes you think it blew???

The mustangs are notorious for passenger rattle from the subs. And it's only the passenger side that makes noise. I thought the same thing when I got my older cars, but everyone of them does it.

There are a few threads of how guys got the rattle to a minimum. You can probably do a search and find it.

One day it was fine...the next day it had that funky, blown sub sound.
Never had probs before.
Since it first made that noise, it hasnt stopped once.

Do you play music loud, and have your bass turned up full??

It's possible that you did blow it, obviously, but I would check to see if it is just the vibration issue that I'm talking about first.

Well, it's possible you blew it.

There are times I have mine up full blast, and it hasn't blown yet. Idk.

If you go to crutchfield.com, enter in your cars info, and it'll show everything that works in your car. Easy as that. Then you can go with your favorite brands, and it'll be able to handle the extra bass you like to listen to.
I'd recommend upgrading your door speakers too, not just the subs. It'll make a world of difference.

Shelby store and I'm sure a couple others offer a kicker upgrade/replacement

wouldnt be supprised if you blew it. Stock ones are pretty crappy. I replaced mine with some CDT-EF80's. They look and sound great!

To fit these I jsut had to take a heat gun to the back of the panel for a little bit.
The shelby kicker ones come with a spacer and people seem to be happy with them.

Just thought Id throw this out there as another option that sounds and looks really good

I replaced mine with JL 8W1v2's. They fit reasonably well, with minor modifications to the door panel, I supposed a spacer ring would have fixed the fit too, but I didn't want to do that. The magnet JUST hit a piece of the the interior of the door's built-in sub enclosure, so I had to cut out a piece, and patch it so it'd be bigger.
