Shaker 500 Specifications??

I am looking at upgrading the speakers on my 06GT with Shaker500.

I looked at the rear deck speakers and was surprised to find they are cheap, paper cone speakers made in China and are rated for a whopping 25W (why does Ford do this...so called Premium Sound). They are terrible. I was going to put a better set in but before I do I would like to see what the system puts for wattage to all 6 channels. No sense in putting 250watters in the back if they are only driven at 10%

If the rear totals 50W then where is the rest of the supposed 450W go?.

Does anyone have the Shaker500 audio output specifications? (wattage and impedance).

Also, does anyone know of a source to buy the harness adapter with Ford connector. I know Crutchfield has them, but their speakers are 50-75% more expensive than others for the exact same parts.

Thanks
Chris

HAte to hijack your thread, but I was very disapointed with the Shaker 500. The Mach 460 in my '03 was much louder.

My question is, with such bad speakers, would the average person be able to tell any improvement if I only upgraded the speakers?

I had the Mach 460 as well in my '02 and I agree that it was a better system. But I don't think the Shaker is that bad (I'm probably the only one that thinks that way though!).

The Shaker 500 is 500 watts PEAK. The head unit itself drives the fron mains, and the rear speakers. The rears ARE absolute junk, and they only receive at most 10-12 watts RMS each by looking at the outputs in the head. The fronts may get 20-25, but that is pushing it into mild clipping. The door subs each get a little Class D amplifier that supposedly is capable of 45-50 rms (according to the chip manufacturer), but I haven't dissected the power supply to check voltage. In the 1000 upgrade, each rear sub gets a pair of those same amps.
Also, the front speakers and the subs really are not bad drivers. Your better upgrade path is to replace the POS head unit first, then move to the speakers. I had 75 RMS on the front mains, and 150 rms on the door subs with no issues (you could blow them to hell with that power, though, I've been doing this for MANY years). Anyway, like I said, a decent head unit made a WORLD of difference in my S500, making it sound quite good, and allowing it to be driven to much higher volume levels cleanly.
