Just to clarify, if a DORA says "AM/FM Stereo/6-CD in dash/mp3", that's either the 500 or 1000, right? There is no other 6-disc/mp3 stereo available, correct?

That is correct. The base stereo has only single cd capability and will not play mp3's.
