Sorry I don't know a whole lot about car stereos, but does anyone know if there is an output on the Shaker 500 for an amplified subwoofer such as a bazooka type? This would be a heck of a lot cheaper than the 1000, take up less room in the trunk, and give a bit more "thump" than the stock 500.

Good question. I also have an amp and a bozooka tube from my last car that I would not mind installing.

I can't imagine that the radio would not allow some kind of connection though.

Yes you can add a sub, but it wound sound as clean without having RCA cables. Hook it to the speaker wires in the trunk. Bazooka are very good as long as they have high level inputs and a wired gain control for the driver. With the small subs in the door, it would sound quite nice

Pony_stile,
I guess what I am wondering is if the head unit has a dedicated RCA out for a sub.

Delphi stock radios don't have RCA cables to hook up amps because they would lose money on the bottom line of the pruduct and loose money on upgrades to their products(like moving from the 500 to the 1000). They use a harness or an idiot plug for external amps. I've run into this problem for years on different cars. However, the subs coming in the doors should make the bass sound pretty clean with an aftermarket sub in the trunk hooked up to speaker level inputs on an amp.
