Many convertible owners might be familiar with the tactic of leaving their doors unlocked when parked. Idea is, if someone wants to get into your car they can cut the top easily enough, might as well leave the doors unlocked instead of dealing with a cut top.
I don't do this with mine, been wondering if I should, but even if I don't I'm still curious - is it possible to activate the alarm without locking the doors?

Nope. Can't do it. Not possible. Uh-uh.
Now, WHY would you leave your doors unlocked? Just like any other lock, they are meant to keep (mostly) honest people... honest. A dyed-in-the-wool thief will get into the car (vert or not) locked or not. Better to keep the honest people honest than worry about a cut top (which is covered - excuse the pun - by your insurance). I'm not flaming you, but I don't buy the "keep the honest person honest" theory. Why would an honest person be trying to open your car door in the first place?

I can see where he's coming from though.if he has no valuables in the car which is what a lot of scums look for, than he would not have to worry about a slashed top.I used that logic on my old car with the glove box too.better not to lock it than to have them ruin it. The alarm would still go off so the thugs wouldnt hang around long anyways
